Sherman is so bad as a play caller... on 2nd and 18 you run a dive and then 3rd and 14 everyone knows to look for the screen...smh!

At least they have thrown some screens and slants early in this game... although they got the flag on Clay you can see the potential the screen has.

Sherman must have read my posts about bubble screens.. on that dive they ran a back side bubble screen.   If they continue there will be big plays there.

Tanny has a problem throwing deep balls no matter who the receiver is!   Hartline had his guy beat and Tanny under threw him too!   

Gotta be honest, I am starting to see what you guys say about Tanny's accuracy throwing deep. He missed an easy TD before by throwing it out of bounds and on that 4th and 1 play Hartline had the corner beat. He needs better accuracy and needs to know that throwing it away is better than taking a sack.

Also, stop running the ball. I mean, don't do it again all game if not all season. It just sacrifices a down and yardage. It was 4th and 1 and you throw it, so hopefully you are starting to understand that running is useless.

I think my pessimism has rubbed off on the board. This thread was started 30 minutes into the game and no one is here. The only way the franchise will learn is if we go away.

I told myself that I wouldn't watch anymore since their season is over but I check in on them every so often. And now I see Tanny getting hit AGAIN and getting intercepted. Yeah, I'm done watching them… see y'all for the beginning of the next game!

Can't blame you. I am barely watching and that's because I rarely get to see them play here in New York. Same nonsense from when the season started, the playcalling is just abysmal. Who the hell runs on 2nd and 10 when they are averaging about a yard a carry?

Wallace has to do a better job on that "jumpball" interception too. He was boxed out by Cromartie like Dennis Rodman. I guess that's not in his skillset.

Tannehill got hit on the one long ball he threw out of bounds too. I think him getting hit on long balls does affect him. It will be interesting to see if he improves when we upgrade the Oline. He has shown he has the arm so it's just a matter of being comfortable to step into the throw after dropping back and setting.  

i disagree with you guys about play calling. If you are predictable it's easier to defend. Plays like that help to set things up later.

Yeah, he may be rushing his throws because he knows he is about to get crushed.

Of course, "when we improve the O-Line" has been the mantra since 2002.

I understand that you don't want to be predictable, but it's predictable that every time we run the ball we gain nothing or lose yardage. So, just scrap it. It hasn't set anything up in weeks other than anger from us and longer 3rd downs.

I can't help but wonder how we're gonna mess up this possession.

I am glad we are throwing more screens and slants to combat our terrible O-Line. Now all we need is a TARDIS to travel back in time and start using these in Week 4.

Going for it was smart but then we throw a fade?? Dumbest call of the game!!!! Why in the hell wouldn't he run play action after three runs?? I just don't get it. That was dumb!

I like the aggressive call.  Hate the execution.

You can't just scrap the run... but you can change the type of runs you use.  It's stupid that they ran stretches with Thomas and dives with Miller.  It should have been the other way around!   Now you have the speed guy and you don't run any stretches.

That 4th and goal shows exactly what I'm talking about... great time for a stretch with Miller but a bad throw by Tanny!   The Hurricanes scored many TD's wit Miller running stretches and toss sweeps... few people have the speed to keep him out the end zone.

What the hell was clay trying to do on third down.  Someone tell the pudgy pos that he is a fb/te and should put his head down and plow into the end zone instead of trying to jump over the line.

Yea, the run selections are all up the middle. Some sweeps or end arounds would be good.

Yeah QB sneak would be nice call but we are talking about Sherman's play calling.  Play action would have been nice with run throw option also.

I don't think Tanny wants to run the ball... they've run a couple read options already in this game and on the keep read Tanny has handed it off each time instead of keeping.

Jet's are playing off the receivers... perfect for slants and hitches but Sherman is an idiot!

Who runs a double move route in the red zone?   There is not enough room for that!   Wallace was open for a slant and they run a double move...SMH!

Phil Simms' son. Backup QB. He has a good arm and most importantly, he is not Geno Smith.

He isn't great or anything, but I can totally see him inspiring this team to a victory.

I have no idea what they tell out guys at half time but it certainly works to keep them from playing

I think what happens is that teams don't respect the Dolphins ability to run so the offense can't get anything going.

Then, the pressure falls on the defense to play perfectly for the entire second half.

As usual Sherman calls a screen has success and gets away from them!  This guy has to be either the dumbest OC there is or he's very stubborn!

Well, we ran the first two plays and got nothing, so that just motivates the other team. I don't want to see Lamar Miller do anything the rest of the game except block and catch passes.

Miller had to break a few tackles to run 17 yards and then Hartline caught a slant and ran for a 31 yard TD. I KNEW WE COULD DO IT!!!

Their defense has to be getting tired.

We want to abandon the run. Looks like the Jets have completely abandoned the pass.

Sherman is freaking slow in his observation of what the defense is doing.  I've said since the game started the slant was there for the taking.   Also Miller got a good gain on the stretch... he has the explosiveness to get outside Thomas didn't have that.

In general both Starks and Solei have been disappointing this year.

Clemmons doesn't have ball hawking skills.... he never takes the appropriate angle!

Yeah, this is my first real time seeing how poorly our D-Line has become at stopping the run. Both Solilai and Starks can enjoy free agency when the season is over.

Also, cut Will Davis.

The hitch has been there all game as well... I've said since 1st qtr how far the jets were playing off the receivers.

The defense needs to stay aggressive and so does the offense

Not aggressive enough. only 3 points in the fourth quarter. Doesn't do much to help offset our trend of shutting down in the fourth.

After reading this thread, you'd think we didn't win.  Mistakes were made, but it was still a dominating victory. Go phins!!!

It was a good victory, but a lot of fans have checked out due to how this season has gone and the Jets are just terrible right now.

That being said, I was very happy going for it on 4th down twice and I liked the SUDDEN APPEARANCE of screen and slant passes. That, and beating the Jets is always the best.

He's not in college anymore. Miller has nice speed but he can't just run around the edge on guys like he could in college. They run a fair number stretch plays, but with this line there's not much there and there's a bigger chance of losing yards on those plays. Most of the runs these days are pretty much just to keep the defense honest and to avoid big losses. They'll have to upgrade their line in the offseason to run to outside more.

I'm one of them. I'm happy they beat the Jets and would love to see them sweep the season series but this team is going to stay stuck in this rut until Ireland and Philbin are replaced

They rarely ran stretches with Miller... they usually ran them with Thomas.  Miller is better suited for stretches than Thomas... that showed today as he got the edge on a couple runs. I understand fully what you're saying but Miller is a much better stretch or toss runner than Thomas.  Thomas is better suited for the dive although Miller can run those as well.  Problem with our offense is more to do with Sherman than anything else.

If you don't know how to use your personnel it doesn't matter who you have blocking or running the ball.  It's not coincidence that the plays I've been calling out all season worked nicely today! 

The game was broadcast here (fist pump), some of my quick observations:

I thought the O-line actually wasn't bad between the 20 yard hashes. Goal line is another story, although the bizarre play calling doesn't exactly help...

Tannehill was pretty good, although he did have a couple of really loose throws early, ate a sack and copped some hits by simply hanging on to the ball too long - you can't blame the O-line for that.

Clay was dynamite as a receiver, but his blocking sucks - if we had a guy with his catching & Sims blocking abilities we'd be set at Tight End...

We dominated the game so thoroughly in the first half, yet struggled to put any points on the board - I thought that might come back to bite us, but thankfully the Jets were so horrible I shouldn't have worried.

Sturgis really does have the yips, especially early on in the game. The guy seemed to be automatic until he missed his first one against the Ravens, now you could toss a coin. With what's come out with the Martin/Incognito situation, you have to wonder how much additional pressure is being heaped on this rookie every time he misses.
