Title: Time to cleanup the mess
Post by: Run Ricky Run on December 29, 2013, 04:07:08 pm
Ireland has shown absolutely nothing in the 6 years that he has been here.  He creates holes by cutting people, filling then with weaker players and then ignoring actual problems.  Cut his ass 3 years ago.

Philbin is absolutely clueless.  Aaron Rodgers was the only reason he was a "successful" offensive coordinator.  He is over his head as HC and is fucking clueless.  An emotionless ignorant statue on the sideline.

Tannehill is not that good, but it could be because of Ireland and Philbin are terrible.  Keep him.

This post is 100% correct.

Agree with the first 2 sentiments. Tanny is absolutely a keeper. Almost 4,000 yards and a 24-14 TD/INT ratio is pretty good when you lead the NFL in sacks and have the 29th best rushing game.

RRR, you hit it right on the head.  Sweep the front office and coaching staff out from top to bottom.

Tannehill was awful these last two weeks, though.

I agree that Starks and Solai have been bad this year. I'm all for replacing them. But replace them with who? Until you find someone better, you probably have to try and
keep them. Based on previous years, they have both been excellent players. Find better players at their position, and I'm all in favor of letting them both fly.

Arthur Jones if the Ravens don't franchise tag him

Jones and Oddrick as our DT's next season

Draft Timmy Jernigan

^^ If they go buy the o-line in free agency then yes you draft DT. And I think that's exactly what the Fins will do. Go get Brandon Albert for LT. Hope Brenner continues to make progress at LG. Pouncey at Center. Then on the right side you need to find a Right Tackle and then right guard will be an easier fill.

LOL DT is like 120th on the list of problems for the dolphins, which means that Ireland will address it first if he is retained.

no its actually the 1st problem since Starks and Soliai are no longer part of this team as of tomorrow! They are free agents.

they do! If you get pushed around on the defensive lines you won't stop anybody.

While I disagree with the clean house mantra ... we definitely have more questions and holes than we did going into this season. We definitely need some work.

Offensive line and DT are the holes. Our WR's when healthy are fine. Clay was a nice surprise this year. If Sims can step up and be a legit TE we are ok there. The secondary wasn't awful this year even getting nothing out of Taylor and Davis. Figure one of them step up next year and make an impact.

I don't see a ton of holes, just the ones we got are really bad. We lose the line of scrimmage battle on both sides of the ball. That's bad. Really bad.

Besides his first year where Chad P. fell into his lap and Tom Brady has a season ending injury where the team went 11-5.  What has he done? 7-9,7-9,6-10,7-9, 8-8.  Why shouldn't Ireland be shit canned?

I don't disagree with Ireland and maybe even get a new OC to help open up Tannehill but a total house cleaning is not needed at this point imo. I think we need some sort of stability moving forward.

Well I don't think that Philbin should stay around just for stability.  He has shown absolutely 0 as a head coach.  I think that 52 yard kick in the snow, in the open end of Heinz field, shows that he just doesn't have it as a HC.  His halftime adjustments are nil, his gameplanning is nil, he doesn't motivate anybody.  And he gets rid of team leaders just so it makes his tiny balls feel a little bigger.

I think Philbin should come back, but there definitely needs to be some coaching changes.  This team was not prepared to play the last two weeks.  Yes, some of the players suck, but even they did not play up to their potential.

Stability in this league works. It's proven

In order:

Oline
DT
RB
OLB

The first two are essential, and I'd like to see us get a RB that doesn't fall down as soon as he's touched.

Fix the 1st one and I think you also fix the 3rd one. Just my opinion

We were 2 yards shy of allowing 2,000 yards rushing yards this year. WOW!!!!

The new linebackers were probably carried for 500 of those yards and another 750 were gained after they missed the tackle.

Read the Dansby interview where he said he was 30lbs overweight his entire time in Miami. He didn't take football seriously when he was in Miami. Those are Dansby's words!

Yeah I can see that. Fact is though the guys brought in didn't get the job done so it's another hole to fix and throw money at.

I agree. The question is if they keep Ireland, what new holes will he create?

Wide receiver and tight end will probably go to shit.  Aside from signing Wallakce, he's done very little to address either position in both free agency and the draft.

Charles Clay?  Even if you chalk him up as not a pure TE, he at least got that half right.

100% agree, although I think all are essential.  Need some leadership from the players, if Philbin will allow it.

You know since they traded Ginn, they've been bad.

And the teams Ginn has joined have been good.

Karma?
