Title: Harbaugh
Post by: MikeO on February 21, 2014, 05:42:42 pm
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/21/sources-browns-nearly-traded-for-jim-harbaugh/

I thought trading for a head coach was banned by the league a few years back after the Gruden to TB and Herm to KC deals, but who knows.  Maybe the league has quietly opened that back up and kept it under wraps. According to this story SF almost traded Harbaugh to the Browns for a bunch of picks and Harbaugh was on board with it for a bit but then decided against it. Didn't end up happening.

Bigger story to watch going forward is that Harbaugh is unhappy in SF and doesn't get along with the people above him (he flirted with the Texas job and now this.) SO, if Miami sucks this year and Ross cleans house....we know how bad Ross wanted Harbaugh a couple years back. Both Michigan guys, Ross will give him a blank check to hire anyone he wants and do whatever he wants. He might be able to trade for him and hand him the keys to the kingdom. Ross gets his guy, Harbaugh gets all the power and a ton of money...wouldn't shock me to see this down the road.

PLEASE GOD NO

I cheered for Joey Porter, but Jim Harbaugh might just be a bridge too far.  The guy is a clown.

I could live with Rex.  He's also a clown, but he's like a jolly clown.  Harbaugh is a mean, surly clown.

Harbaugh has brought his team to at least an NFC Title game every year he has been in San Francisco

I wouldn't have wanted a 3rd-year Mark Sanchez, either.

The SF CEO Jed York is fighting with an NFL Network reporter tonight on Twitter saying the story is false. The reporter though is saying his sources are high level SF executives. Interesting to watch

Jed York is a moron of an owner who got lucky when he stumbled on Jim Harbaugh.  That team has been in the shits ever since Eddie DeBartolo was forced to give up his ownership.  Only now is it back to its glory days.  Once Harbaugh leaves, those NFC title game appearances leave with him.

Really?  DeBartolo gave up control of the Niners in 2000 to his sister (York's wife).  Both Mrs Yorknd her husband had a reputation for being cheap.  Between 2000 and 2010 they're were only two playoff appearances and a lot of losing seasons including the worst record in the league in 2004.  The two playoff appearances were in 2001 and 2002 when some players from the Bill Walsh/George Seifert era remained.  Can't argue with facts.

The bigger story here is they can deny it all they want but now you got Mort and others saying this story is 100% true. Harbaugh will be in SF for another year or so but then he is gone.

Harbaugh will be in SF for at least two hoistings of the SB trophy. After we've passed the Steelers again, he can ride off into the sunset.

Jed York just comes off as a liar now. Browns owner confirms that they had talks with 49ers about trade for Harbaugh

I would welcome Harbaugh with open arms and any Dolphins fan who wouldn't is a fool. When is the last time we had a real coach, Jimmy Johnson? Everyone else has been glorified coordinators or Nick Saban. Bring this screaming child to Miami as fast as possible. I would trade our first rounder for him right now.

Everyone on this board, and everyone that everyone on this board has ever met, has lied at some point in their life. Show me a human being that claims to have never told a lie, and you'll be showing me a liar.

Then call me a fool. He's a great coach, but fuck that guy.  Good coaches become great coaches when they are setup for success and take an established team to the next level (Harbaugh, Carroll, Gruden) or a legendary superstar to piggy back on (Peyton/Brees, BB/Brady, Dungy/Manning).

But not everyone has taken the time to publicly refute and admonish a journalist reporting a story that's actually true.

If Jed York wants to tell his kid that Santa Claus didn't bring her a pony because she got bad grades, I don't care.  But PFT reported a true story and York went on Twitter to publicly deny it.  So he deserves to take some heat for being stupid enough to get caught.

Just like he was emailing the reporters at the time Marino retired and got the scoop on that story, Landshark was emailing the guys who were covering George Washington in the late 1700's and got the "real story" on the very first president!

George Washington

The George Washington being honest stories has be the greatest irony of all times.

The story about the cherry tree is totally fake.  Mason Locke Weems made up a story (lied) to create an parable about telling the truth.  It doesn't get better than that in the irony department.

Well, he is under contract for the next two years, so that is a reasonable thing to say.

The 49ers are fortunate in the fact that they have an outstanding GM (Baalke) and an outstanding head coach (Harbaugh). Both have very strong personalities, and both are 100% committed to winning a Super Bowl in San Francisco. My sincere hope is that they learn how to get along a little better, extend Harbaugh's contract, and spend the next 5-6 years racking up wins for my beloved 49ers.

Title: Re: Harbaugh
Post by: Sunstroke on March 25, 2014, 01:30:32 pm

The whole "Baalke and Harbaugh don't get along" media hype has disappeared like the proverbial mustard fart in the wind. "Momentarily tangy, and then forgotten." Harbaugh and Baalke are getting along fine, and thanks to the compensatory pick SF got yesterday, they now have 6 picks in the first three rounds. Since SF just doesn't have needs for all of those players, I am praying that they can pull off a couple of trade-ups in order to get 2-3 starter-quality players (WR, CB, either interior O-line or D-line). With the perceived depth of talent in this draft class, I'm confident that SF will be able to find a team with fewer picks who are interested in trading back to add more 2nd-3rd rounders.

They entertained the notion of trading Harbaugh within the last 8 weeks. I wouldn't say it disappeared.

Within the last 8 weeks, I've entertained the notion of:

*Growing dragon wings and soaring across the countryside, using my flaming breath to roast website trolls and propagators of unfounded internet rumors.
* Assembling a group of 32 midgets, 16 African-American, 16 Caucasian, dressing them up in medieval garb and using them as a living chess set.
* Having a portrait of the prophet Muhammad tattooed on the shaft of my Johnson.

My entertained notions are as likely to happen as the entertained notion you're subscribing to...

While your comedy is still lacking....it doesn't change the fact all isn't well in 49ers land.  And to say otherwise may help you sleep at night but it's far from true.

You still wouldn't recognize good comedy if it crawled out of your ass and speed-bagged your nuggets...

...and you still have the annoying tendency of deciding that if you believe something, it must be the unarguable truth.

Plus c'est change...
