Title: Saffold fails Physical Post by: MikeO on March 12, 2014, 10:17:21 pm Only the Raiders. Overpay for Roger Saffold.....he gets to his physical and fails it. No deal and the Raiders are without a left tackle and all the good ones are signed with new teams.
Miami liked Saffold alot and he was #2 on their wish list before Oakland went nuts and gave him a boat-load. The fins wanted him to play guard. But failing the physical must raise red flags. But I think Miami should find out what happened there and maybe get Saffold at a bargain price (depending on the injury) Title: Re: Saffold fails Physical Post by: MikeO on March 12, 2014, 10:33:31 pm This is bizarre to say the least. Saffold fails his Raiders physical and the Raiders take the contract off the table. Then the Rams moments later sign him ASAP to a 5 year deal and don't care about his shoulder injury. HUH?!
Title: Re: Saffold fails Physical Post by: el diablo on March 12, 2014, 10:51:57 pm It boils down to a difference in opinion. The Raiders had concerns about an injury that the Rams claim isn't there. Besides, the Rams didn't want to let him go in the first place. They just didn't want to pay him "tackle" money. He didn't want to play guard either. Now it's just a matter of how close to the Raiders' deal is the Rams' deal? And do they plan on letting him play tackle?
Title: Re: Saffold fails Physical Post by: MikeO on March 12, 2014, 11:30:41 pm The word among the Oakland reporters is that Raiders owner Mark Davis pulled the plug on the Saffold deal once he saw what other LT's got yesterday. Rodger Saffold's full guarantee at signing with Raiders $21.5M. Branden Albert with Dolphins $20M. Eugene Monroe with Ravens $19M. He saw he made a bad deal and was getting heat for it and found a way to get out of it. Physical was his "out" today
