Title: Rule change based on the 49ers Seahawks play
Post by: dolphins4life on March 27, 2014, 02:10:27 pm
I need more information because I saw it on Espn while eating dinner last night at a restaurant.

Apparently they are adjusting fumble reviews because of the play that happened in the NFC title game.

Anybody got more information?

A link would be nice

Yeah, they call it the Navarro Bowman rule.  Seahawks had the ball, 3rd and goal at about the 10 yard line. Wilson threw the ball to Jermaine Kearse, who almost got into the end zone, but Navarro Bowman stood him up and stripped the ball away from him. As Bowman took possession of the ball, the 49ers pro bowl rookie FS, Eric Reid, slammed into Kearse, driving him back into Bowman. The impact bent Bowman's knee back in a sickening direction, and he went to the ground, still holding the football. The officials wrongly said Seattle had possession, and the ruling wasn't subject to review.

The new rule change makes that play reviewable now.

Here is a video clip of the play...excuse the idiot making empathetic sounds of pain in the background.

Everything should be review-able but the coaches still retain their 2 or 3 red flags.
