Title: The Red Sox don't believe in history, sign...
Post by: MaineDolFan on November 24, 2014, 10:50:15 am
Hanley AND Sandoval.

Why?  Who knows.  If you're going to open up your wallets and pour a crap load into FA, however, why not do it in pitching.  Color me not impressed unless some arms come this way.

Especially Hanley.  I mean, who doesn't want a head case who can't stay healthy?

For that kind of money, you could've had half of a Giancarlo... ;)

For this kind of money we could have had Lester and gotten Miller back.

Yeah, not really wowed by these moves. They could work out well and it wouldn't be shocking if they did, but Hanley's weight and Panda's weight are scary. Besides, I read that they are keeping what his name at SS, so Hanley is liking going to LF. Seems to kill a bunch of his value now.

Whatever, they have tons of money to spend and they won't be getting any competition from anyone in the AL East but Baltimore, so they can do this and get by.

Offensively, can't argue with the bats Boston will put on the field this coming season.  And depending on who they keep, even if Hanley only plays his 120-130 games, spelling his with Shane, Holt, etc isn't a bad thing.  Boston's offense was awful last season, it won't be this year.  Unless they open their wallet for pitching, it won't matter.
