Title: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: ArtieChokePhin on January 04, 2015, 10:41:59 am Great studio commentator. I didn't even know he had cancer.

Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Sunstroke on January 04, 2015, 07:39:40 pm Very sad news...probably my favorite Sportscenter anchor ever. Probably too soon, but by now, he's probably cooler than the other side of the pillow. Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Phishfan on January 05, 2015, 09:28:38 am RIP
Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: CF DolFan on January 05, 2015, 09:41:21 am I had to look for it but I found it. Obviously one of the greatest to grace our tv sets but I loved his response to a question posed about Tim Tebow's eye black!
Dave (Bethesda, Md.): What’s with the Bible citations on Tim Tebow’s eyeblack, Stu? If I were a player and had “There is” written on one side of my face and “no God” on the other, would that be okay? Stuart Scott: Dave, if that what you want to do, I don’t care. But Tim and I and billions of other believers in the world know you’d be wrong. Luke 23:42 "Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Brian Fein on January 05, 2015, 11:15:48 am ESPN did a really nice tribute to him last night during the 11:00 SportsCenter.
I'll never forget the time I went to ESPN the Weekend at (what was then) MGM Studios at Disney World, and Stuart Scott did a 30-minute segment with the crowd on the importance of adding "flair" to the sportscast. The guy was a true pro and a class act. Will be missed... Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: VidKid on January 05, 2015, 02:18:15 pm Call him butter, cuz he's on a roll.....
RIP Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Dave Gray on January 05, 2015, 04:34:22 pm I liked Scott and what he did for ESPN. I didn't even know he was sick.
RIP. :( Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: suck for luck on January 05, 2015, 09:19:34 pm I didn't care for his schtick at all. Had no idea he was sick. Way too young to go. Godspeed to him.
Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Phishfan on January 06, 2015, 09:29:03 am I can't believe you guys didn't know about his fight with cancer. I thought it was widely known as it had been talked about on ESPN quite a bit and it covered several years. Scott gave a pretty impressive speech this past year as part of the Jimmy V awards.

He received the Jimmy V perseverance award at the Espy's and made a hell of a speech. If you haven't seen his speech, I recommend you go watch it at the soonest.Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Shows ya how many people (even die hard sports fans) watch ESPN. I knew about his illness but I never watch ESPN programming (except for actual games.) ESPN has turned into a joke. Unless its a live game, I got no reason to watch SportsCenter or any of their other talking head shows. Those ESPN shows have turned into Romper Room and they cater to the lowest common denominator in our society Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Dave Gray on January 06, 2015, 11:18:26 am I watch both Around the Horn and PTI, but rarely do I watch Sportscenter.
Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Phishfan on January 06, 2015, 11:22:43 am Around the Horn & PTI also. SportsCenter is watched only while still in a bar for the evening and then it doesn't have sound. I also watch the Sunday and Saturday morning pre-games on ESPN.
Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Sunstroke on January 06, 2015, 11:31:06 am At this point, I pretty much only watch the college football/hoops games on ESPN and the occasional college sports-specific talk shows. If I want to watch a talk show about football, I usually go to the NFL Network and get some deeper stats/analysis. Same with the NBA and NBA Network, MLB and MLB Network, etc... Title: Re: ESPN'S Stuart Scott dies. Post by: Brian Fein on January 06, 2015, 01:34:40 pm I rarely watch ESPN unless its for live sports, and even then usually only Monday Night Football. But Stuart Scott's illnesses have been going on for years and have been well documented and talked about frequently, more than just on ESPN.
