Title: McCoy To Buffalo in trade with Philly
Post by: MikeO on March 03, 2015, 07:28:58 pm
McCoy to Bills for LB Kiki Alonso.  Bad trade for Bills. Overpaid (salary wise) for a RB coming off a bad year. And going to a bad offense

If Alonso's knee is back to 100% (or at least healthy), then I think it's a screamin' deal for the Eagles. Lord knows, they needed serious defensive help, and Kiko Alonso is one of the best young tackling-machine linebackers in the league. Chip Kelly is smart to shed salary, add a premium young defensive player still on his rookie contract and replenish his RB corps from one of the better looking RB classes in recent memory.

Still need a real QB and 2-3 guys who can actually cover a receiver, but I'd say that's a good start for Philly if they want to catch Dallas in the NFCE.

Not sure what Buffalo is thinking, unless they "really" had concerns about the long-term viability of Alonso's health.

Rumor is Philly might sign Demarco Murray now to play RB. IF so this deal looks even better as I think McCoy has peaked and he didn't look good last year.

Put McCoy in Buffalo where he see's a lot of 8 man fronts on a bad offensive team and he is in store for a poor year

I think DeMarco would look pretty darned good on any team, but why pay $8 million (estimate) for a 27 year old RB who just had a 449-touch season, when you can just take a couple of your 7-8 draft picks and grab a few of the plethora of young good looking fresh RB prospects. And you get those guys at a dirt cheap rookie scale, so you can invest that $$ in defensive free agent upgrades.

Last year was not the year to overspend on FA receivers. This year is not the year to overspend on FA running backs.

I like this year's OG group as well, so for Miami, I hope they go with rookie beef for their interior O-line upgrades.

Bills trying to solve their QB problem just traded (yes traded) for Matt Cassel.

Bills are a mess.

Not much the Bills could do for a QB; no good FA's, poor draft class for QB's.  They needed a veteran for when EJ goes out injured three games into the season.

There are better options than Matt Cassel
