Title: Fins trying to re-sign 3 of their own
Post by: MikeO on March 11, 2015, 08:38:21 am
Omar Kelly reporting Fins are trying to re-sign Matt Moore, Jimmy Wilson, and Louis Delmas and bring all 3 back.

Delmas will miss like the first half or more of the year. Wilson was worse than normal last year but he can play S or CB so he is versatile in that regard. Matt Moore...who cares.

Starks officially cut. Buffalo giving Clay a contract that will pay him $9 mill in year one per CBS so Miami is unable to match. With those 2 off the books and a possible Ellerbee cut coming today,  Miami is gonna have a TON of cap space by the end of the day

I like Delmas.  Good player.  I would like to have him back as long as he's realistic about what to expect in year 1 salary-wise.  He can stay on the team and go on PUP and maybe play late in the season.

Wilson and Moore are take-it-or-leave-it guys.  As you said, its nice to have Wilson's versatility, and Moore has been here forever.  But realistically, neither are going to start anywhere else and fill a spot nicely on this roster, so bringing them back should be OK.

As for Ellerbe, I'd like to understand how they plan to fill the MLB hole before they jettison that guy.  I don't think Jason Trusnik is the answer there.

Misi is your MLB and they will sign a tier 2 FA cheap or draft someone to also play MLB

Ellerbee isn't a MLB either, he is an OLB. He was going to play OLB last year.

I said this a while back and am sticking to it now... Fins draft either Eric Kendricks or Denzel Perryman in round 2, or if they wait until later to go after the MLB spot, Jake Ryan out of Michigan.

While it is probably a touch too early at #14 in round one, I would also be OK with a trade down into the mid-late 20's and grabbing  Benardrick McKinney.

Delmas is saying he might be back for Week 1 of the regular season. That would be a huge boost if he is.

Delmas was pretty good when healthy, but we got him cheaply this year and last because of his injury history. In all honesty, if he can give us 13 games again, we should be grateful for it.

Dolphins went public today saying that if they don't work out a long-term deal with Tannehill in the next 6 weeks they will use the 5th year option on him.

I wouldn't be stunned to see him re-work his deal in those 6 weeks. Looks like the Fins are trying to get the 2016 cap situation in shape long in advance with the Suh deal now
