Post by: Sunstroke on May 01, 2015, 05:24:16 pm Stupid, immature and classless ("you forgot ugly, lazy and disrespectful...") Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Dave Gray on May 01, 2015, 05:39:52 pm Isolated, I think this is funny. I think it's kinda funny, anyway. But it's just stupid to continue to draw negative attention and open yourself for people to talk about all the wrong things, even if you're not in the wrong, doing it. This is such a high-profile position and I question if the guy is mature enough to handle it.
Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Spider-Dan on May 01, 2015, 07:27:07 pm It looks like there's already some tl;dr going on in this thread.
To summarize the situation for the casual reader, Winston recently participated in an auction to benefit Mike Alstott's (former Bucs RB) charity. Captain Keith from The Deadliest Catch asked Winston to help auction off a giant king crab, and rather than run away from the potential negative publicity, Winston decided to be a good sport and help the charity auction. As a thank you, Capt. Keith sent Winston 25 lbs of king crab for his draft day party. This is what was pictured. Winston was not trying to thumb his nose at the law. He likes crab legs and was sent a LOT of them for his draft day party. He deleted the photo from Instagram on direction from the TB front office. Cut the kid some slack. I haven't given it any thought at all.

Crab legs are his favorite food and who gives a shit if he eats them with his brand new Bucs jersey on? He has every right to enjoy them on draft day. He's earned it.

Taking crab legs for free is what caused the problem in the first place. He should have been smart enough to not serve them for his draft party; should have just eaten some turkey pot pies. Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Sunstroke on May 02, 2015, 12:18:42 pm ...should have just eaten some turkey pot pies. Mad props for closing out that quote... ;D Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Really ... that proves he is an immature NFL bust? I really can't help feel like people are dying for him to fail so it will give meaning to their lives. It really wasn't anything more than a bad attempt at humor. I see the same thng inalmost every thread of this board.

It really wasn't anything more than a bad attempt at humor. I see the same thng inalmost every thread of this board. I am most definitely a hater. I think he's a scum bag and overrated. Having said that, I could see him as a turnover machine, an off the field headache OR a potential star and everything in between. Hating aside, that is too many factors and too much trust in a guy that has not proved he can keep his nose clean to justify taking him 1st overall. TL;DR wouldn't be surprised to see him be a bust or a star. Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? I don't care about him one way or another. I certainly don't hate him. But it gets hard to defend a guy who keeps unnecessary putting himself in the negative spotlight. There's something to be said for keeping your head down and laying low. Taking high-profile pictures that reference previous incidences on draft day, no less, just shows bad judgment. Getting hired and then having your employer ask you to remove pictures is just not a good start -- especially if you've been in hot water a bunch before. Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Dolphster on May 04, 2015, 01:00:30 pm The crab leg picture in and of itself wouldn't be a big deal. It is the fact that it was just the latest in a long series of stupid and immature things he has done. In the interest of full disclosure, I did a lot of stupid and immature things in college too. It's just that my stupid stunts weren't all over the news like they are for a national sports celebrity like Winston.
Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Dave Gray on May 04, 2015, 01:07:51 pm It isn't a big deal. It's a funny picture -- and I agree it's kinda funny. But there's a level of professionalism that you want to show on your first day of work. I'm a joker as much as anyone, but it just tells me that he isn't thinking things through. He couldn't have thought that would've gone over well, could he?
Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? Post by: Spider-Dan on May 04, 2015, 01:49:36 pm I think he probably looks at the situation from a small picture: he is fully aware that he got these crab legs as a result of volunteering for a charity auction (one where he helped to auction off a crab), so from his perspective, he probably associates the crab leg picture with the charity auction if he associates them with anything at all. However, the majority of people know nothing about that auction (or where the crab legs at his draft party came from), so to them it looks like he's making a joke of the law.
It's like if Mike Vick did a lot of charity work for animal rescue to try to rehabilitate his image, and then separately posts a picture of him with a dog. Unless you know the whole story, it looks like he's thumbing his nose at everyone. Title: Re: What do you think of Winston's celebratory crab leg picture? So I'll side track it by saying Vick shouldn't be allowed within 200 yards of a dog. |
