I think that, as long as winners get paid more than losers (and they do, both directly and indirectly), players will always try to gain a competitive advantage over their opponents. Sometimes it involves cheating, sometimes it doesn't.

Yes, everyone in sports cheats to an extent. They may be minor things like the tug of a jersey but it is cheating.

Every industry cheats.  But not every individual.  So long as there are incentives to being dishonest to get ahead, people will do it.  It doesn't mean anything, though.
