Well, the Dolphins face the Redskins today in what promises to be a very revealing matchup.

I'm excited for this game.

Kick off was good, right out of the end zone. Unfortunately Jamar Taylor jumped the gun and got a pass interference. Usually those are killers, where we get a stop but a penalty extends the drive, so let's see how they bounce back.

Since the pass rush is going to be scary, they need to prevent those quick, short throws. Might be a problem. But with this false start, maybe they'll get a stop here.

3rd and long and the redskins get a 1st down. Nothing much changes year to year. :)

Suh looks horrible

Suh is getting cut blocked and taken out early on some plays. They don't seem to be expecting this many run plays. But, they got a stop and made the Redskins settle for a FG. That's good, considering how well they seemed to be marching down the field. Now it's time to see if Tannehill can deliver on the opening drive! Start it right.

The Redskins consumed almost half the quarter with that opening drive.

Let's see how Tannehill and the offense can respond.

I really hate these calls. It's 3rd and 4th, let's go for a 2 yard play. But, I like the 4th and 1 call to go for it. But they don't get it. Wow. This offense is pitiful.

Still lots of football and it's only a one possession game, so that's good. But nothing on the offense has shown that they will get good this game. Now Cousins is picking apart the D.

Because it was only one yard. There should be no reason why you can't get a 1st down there. Plus, it shows Philbin trusts the offense to make it happen. Unfortunately, the players and probably the play caller let him down.

Another horrible throw to Stills. He's usually money throwing on the run. That would have been a TD. 2 TD passes that were just bad. He needs to get better on those.

The one thing that totally irks me is that their 2 minute drill is really good. Why don't they do that all the time? It usually results in TDs.

Well, with everything that has gone wrong in the first half, Miami is only down three, which is a testament to how horrible the Redskins really are.

Sucks that I can't stick around for the second half.  

Here is what I will say:

The Dolphins have played horrible in this game, but are lucky to be down just three.

This is the kind of game a playoff teams wins against a bad team, when it does not play very well, but the opponent is so bad it keeps them in the game so the playoff team manages to pull out a win.

Can the Dolphins do it?

Like I said before in the prediction thread, anything other than a 30 point beatdown would be a huge letdown and cause for concern. This is obviously a large cause for concern. Same mental weakness as always.

They better pull out a win.     Bills are up on indy and the jets look good as well.   Miami needs to win

I figured that the Redskins would always be able to win the game but Miami would pull out a win. I think I only predicted Miami to win by 3 or 4 points. The Redskins could be underrated, but Miami should have definitely dominated this game. Maybe the 2nd half adjustments will work, like some times last year.

Jets do not look good, the Browns gave them 7 points with a stupid fumble at the goal line and Cromartie looks to be done for the year. Carted off with a non contact knee injury, that is usually a torn ACL or worse.

We have a really hard time facing reality for some reason.

This is what happens when you expect nothing less than a blowout.  We're losing 10-7 (on the road) in the third quarter of Week 1 and the season is already over.

The win was not convincing enough, we played poorly against a terrible team. Also, is there anyone left who thinks Philbin SHOULDN'T have been fired? This game had nothing to do with it.

People have expectations way out of wack. In the NFL blowouts are very rare. Especially blowing out a team on the road.  And a middle of the road team like Miami isn't going to march in many stadiums of opponents and blow teams out.

Not to mention everyone bought into the preseason hype.  There is no gameplanning in any preseason games, teams don't double. Teams don't cut block or scheme to avoid pressure.

Today Suh was held in check because the opponent gameplanned for him and took him out of the game. The Fins o-line was stunted and gameplanned for and Dallas Thomas went back to sucking and Jamil Douglas was on his ass most of the day.

Story of this game was the Fins defense in the 1st half was beyond awful. Turned it around in the 2nd half. And the Fins o-line is a dumpster fire and they are awful. That was the story of this game.

There are so many ridiculous comments in this thread that I thought for sure that everyone was just kidding.  And then I realized that most, if not all of the comments were "real" and I was all  ???
