Title: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 14, 2015, 03:03:35 pm Jonas Gray
LaMike James Sam Brenner Fins in the market for TE's and Safety's with the Jones and Sims injuries yesterday. Plus something happened with the running backs today. Coaches were all over them as a "group" so not shocked to see James and Gray gone. Gray could be resigned to the practice squad though possibly. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 14, 2015, 03:06:03 pm Fins just signed RB Raheem Mostert (was with Philly's practice squad)
He can return kicks which is probably why he has more value over Gray at this point. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Dolphster on September 14, 2015, 03:45:12 pm Not surprised at all about James of course. Not much surprised about Brennar. Didn't they already cut him once and then re-sign him? But a little bit surprised about Gray since what I had been reading was that they might be expanding his role a little bit.
It isn't unusual to see quite a bit of roster shuffling during the first couple weeks of the season though. It isn't unusual to see quite a bit of roster shuffling during the first couple weeks of the season though. They paid Brenner like triple what most guys get who are on the practice squad when he was initially cut and cleared waivers. Cutting him (per the Miami Herald) was strictly a cost saving move. Someone thought twice about it and was like why are we paying him so much to be on the PS and today sent him packing. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: DZA on September 15, 2015, 12:04:52 am Why was gray cut, didn't they just claimed him from The Pats.
No surprise on James. Fumbling in preseason and fumbling in the game. See ya buddy. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 15, 2015, 06:08:35 am Why was gray cut, didn't they just claimed him from The Pats. Had to cut him to get him back on the practice squad is what many think. They need the roster spot. They had only 1 TE on the roster after the Sims injury. Reshad Jones is hurt so they might need to add a safety. And they need a kickoff returner as well. So they needed to make room and open roster spots so they can get players who will actually play on the 53 man roster.Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 15, 2015, 12:01:19 pm Haven't seen anything on Reshad Jones injury. Is he out for next week or just banged up and probable?
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 15, 2015, 01:59:16 pm Haven't seen anything on Reshad Jones injury. Is he out for next week or just banged up and probable? Hamstring injury. Word is he will "probably" play, but might not be 100%. It was thought to be far worse of an injury on Sunday Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on September 15, 2015, 02:33:58 pm Why was gray cut, didn't they just claimed him from The Pats. Several possible reason, and it could be more than one. Gray was brought in as for intelligence and either refused (and was cut) or cooperated (and Fins have all the info they are likely to get so got rid of him). Fins thought they were going to get a gem off of the Patriots garbage heap, and after closer examination realized that there was a good reason NEP got rid of him, so moved on. Fins never really wanted him, but had heard the reports NE was looking to sign him to the PS so they figured just fuck with their rival. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Spider-Dan on September 15, 2015, 04:55:19 pm I thought it was always pretty obvious that the Gray signing was pure team espionage.
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Brian Fein on September 15, 2015, 06:43:56 pm Don't forget Gray was a Dolphins for 2 seasons before he was a Patriot. Maybe they legitimately thought they'd kick his tires again. He was a bubble guy to make the team before he was cut before. Perhaps they didn't like him now as much as they did a year ago.
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on September 15, 2015, 07:03:51 pm Dave any relationship? You should get his jersey.
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 15, 2015, 08:20:27 pm If Ajayi never got hurt Gray wouldn't have been signed. If LaMike James didn't fumble and start a fight with Landry and if Sims didn't get a concussion Gray is still on the 53 man roster. Odds are Gray is resigned by Miami and put on the practice squad. Some of you guys are reading way too much into this
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 16, 2015, 12:11:49 pm Vernon is expected to play Sunday at DE with his ankle injury
Reshad Jones didn't practice today and his status is up in the air Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Dolphster on September 16, 2015, 12:43:21 pm With the depth that they have on the D-Line and the fact that they are playing a weak team (although last week's weak team gave the Fins all they could handle), I would almost prefer that they sit Vernon and let him heal up rather than risk having him make the injury worse and miss games where they really need him.

Agreed. If they can't beat the Jaguars with one of their Linemen missing, then you got way more problems than an injury. I would rest Jones too. He is a bigger loss, but I honestly can't even name Jacksonville's QB. Probably starts with a B. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Phishfan on September 16, 2015, 12:56:56 pm Agreed. He is born, raised, and college educated right here. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 17, 2015, 12:27:08 pm Vernon and Jones not expected to play Sunday as of today. Both appear to be out per reports
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 17, 2015, 12:30:44 pm Shouldn't need it for the Jags anyway. More than enough talent on the Line and it's Blake Bortles. Use this game as conditioning for Albert and improvement for our Guards, let's hopefully not sweat this one out too.

Cam Wake limited in practice today as well, his status uncertain . No Dion Sims Sunday Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: CF DolFan on September 17, 2015, 04:23:37 pm Shouldn't need it for the Jags anyway. No offense Edge but we still have to show up and play to get the win. They are still an NFL team and will beat some teams. It seems like you are taking this game for granted. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 17, 2015, 04:58:20 pm I'm not taking it for granted, I wouldn't be surprised if we lost. I am just looking at the talent on each roster and saying we should still win easily. Seems like we rarely do things like that, last week being a prime example, but in theory it should be a comfortable win.
In theory. Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Spider-Dan on September 18, 2015, 10:56:34 am I don't think it's a good idea to "rest players" for "weak opponents." Remember, this franchise has never beaten the Texans.
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 18, 2015, 12:13:55 pm Jax and Miami played like crap last week. Both teams will be much improved this week, no doubt. If Jax is "healthier" combined with being at home....they can very easily win this game if Miami has a bunch of key guys out (which they do)
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: Dolphster on September 18, 2015, 01:03:11 pm I certainly wouldn't put any money on the Fins this week, especially given the point spread.
Title: Re: Fins cut 3 players today Post by: MikeO on September 23, 2015, 10:43:35 am Jonas Gray back on the Fins 53 man active roster. With the Miller injury and his status in doubt Gray might actually play this week
