Title: Saw Paxton Lynch and others working out at our local High School Post by: CF DolFan on January 20, 2016, 10:57:48 am If you are a college fan you know who Paxton Lynch is. He was the QB for Memphis and is expected to be taken early in the draft by many. He could possibly even go top 10. The reason I am bringing him up is that I knew who he was but I had no idea he was a local kid. Saw him working out at Lake Mary High school two blocks from my house. He was working out with others from D-1. That's the training facility owned by Tim Tebow and Chipper Jones.
Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: Sunstroke on January 20, 2016, 11:51:37 am I've made it a point to watch several of Memphis' games this year, just to get a look at the QB that many early mock drafts had going to my 49ers. I like the guy...not as much as Goff, but I think he has the potential to become an excellent NFL QB. The freakiest - but coolest - thing about Paxton: He has mutant-sized hands. The moment he hits the NFL, he will have the largest hands of any QB in NFL history (or at least in the NFL Combine era, 1982-present). Paxton's hands measure a ridiculous 11.5 inches. Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: CF DolFan on January 20, 2016, 03:34:04 pm And you know what they say about big hands? ... LOL. Big gloves!
I think it's odd that he is from Deltona which is 15 minutes up I-4 from me and I hadn't heard anything. He went to a very small local private high school. I mean ...Drew Butera made headlines just for catching the final out of the World Series. I'd think the follow up to Blake Bortles would be somewhat local news worthy. Seems like the only QB to get any attention around here before the NFL was Jeff Driskel and we see how that turned out. Do you think Chip Kellys will take him? Or does Kaepernick get another shot? Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: Sunstroke on January 21, 2016, 04:08:13 pm Do you think Chip Kellys will take him? Or does Kaepernick get another shot? At this point, I have no clue what Chip is going to do. There were all sorts of rumors out there about him wanting "whichever" team signed him to go out and make a deal for Kaepernick, but then he does his welcome press conference and avoids saying anything at all about him. I think if Kaep is kept for another season, there is no chance that SF grabs a first round QB. If Kaep is released, I'd almost guarantee that SF goes after one of the top QB prospects in this class. Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: fyo on January 22, 2016, 08:44:40 am ^ What the heck happened to Kaepernick these past two seasons? I've had to progressively limit my football consumption to the point where I pretty much only watch the Dolphins during the regular season. I think the last time I saw Kaepernick was when the 49ers lost to the Broncos in 2014 in that insane game where Peyton was pretty much perfect.
He played brilliantly in '12 and '13, then crashed completely. I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback's performance just die like that after two really, really good years. Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: CF DolFan on January 22, 2016, 11:32:17 am Dang ... I just need to sit out there and watch as they are doing a lot of training lately. Alabama LB Reggie Ragland and Clemson DT DJ Reader were working out hard too. There's probably more but hard to know who all the college guys are.

Dude, I envy you for that. I used to really enjoy going up to Mobile for the Senior Bowl, and scouting the practices leading up to these showcase games is my favorite part. Reggie Ragland is on my short list of linebackers in this class that I would reeeeeally love to see end up in a Dolphins or 49ers jersey. He has the potential to be a pro bowl caliber middle linebacker in the NFL. Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: DaLittle B on January 22, 2016, 12:03:14 pm Big receivers (which the 49ers just got from the CFL) and big Qb's with big hands- I'm a fan... :D

I'm not expecting much, but he's pretty much been successful at every level he's been so far, so...knock on wood. I definitely agree though...receivers and QBs with big hands get bonus points in my scouting process. Dang, B...with you back, we should really try to resurrect the TDMMC Saturday Night! show. If not as a regular broadcast, then a couple of offseason specials. I really miss talking football with my hillbilly co-host. ;D Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: Phishfan on January 22, 2016, 02:25:39 pm You're up there watching the East-West practices? None of those guys are in the East-West game. He is seeing them work out at a high school down the street. I'd still pay to sit in those stands and watch... ;D Title: Re: Paxton Lynch Post by: DaLittle B on January 22, 2016, 04:25:52 pm Dang, B...with you back, we should really try to resurrect the TDMMC Saturday Night! show. I don't think anyone else really cared that much about them.... :-\ I'm not sure if I'd want to do another "live" fins radio type show, but I'd be up for maybe recording a audio podcast.I'm not sure about software, hosting it online, and such things like that. He has the potential to be a pro bowl caliber middle linebacker in the NFL. LB Reggie Ragland School: Alabama Analysis: The Dolphins need linebackers in the worst way. Ragland is the best at the position in the Senior Bowl and one of the best in the draft. Miami’s brass should be watching Ragland closely and any other playmaking linebacker who emerges from the Senior Bowl. Title: Re: Saw Paxton Lynch and others working out at our local High School Post by: Sunstroke on January 26, 2016, 01:18:28 pm ^^^ I was watching a CBS or Fox special before the Bama-Clemson game, and one of the announcers said that if you watch Ragland play, and then go dig up some old footage of Patrick Willis from when he was playing at Ole Miss, you'll think you're seeing a ghost. Rags is a straight-up monster...I just hope he goes to Miami or SF, so I can cheer for him and get his jersey. ;D |
