Title: Megatron retires
Post by: BuccaneerBrad on January 31, 2016, 06:39:23 pm
Watching the Pro Bowl pre-game talk and multiple sources are saying that Lions WR Calvin Johnson has told the tan he intends to retire.

Second star Lion to retire with gas left in the tank

He had (has) a back-loaded contract with all the good years coming up. His base salary for 2016 is $16M, $16.5M in 2017, $17M in 2018, and just over $18M in 2019.

One of the best players in Lions history. You have to hate seeing the great ones walk away, but isn't it even sadder to see when they stay too long?

I wonder if Galvatron will take his place and lead the Decepticons to a glorious future.

I wonder if he just wants out of Detroit and would be willing to play with another team.  Maybe he's just sick of being the only player on a crap team.

I don't think it's either of these.  I think we're going to see a lot more superstars leaving early...not because of performance, not because they want to push for a better team.  It's because they've made enough money to live their life and they want to have  a long life where they can see their kids grow up, still be able to walk, and not have brain damage and end up killing themselves.

It's a lot of money, but any of these guys are dumb for playing one down longer than they have to.

Dude, LOL

Never understood the nickname, thought it was stupid. I digress. Sucks for Lions fans, but good on Calvin. May he enjoy his life and family from here on out, he was one of the greats.

I may have been a bit misunderstood. I'm not saying he is leaving too early. I simply said he was walking away, which is hard to watch them do.
