Title: I want to play fantasy football for money this fall
Post by: dolphins4life on August 17, 2016, 07:05:38 pm
1) Is this legal?

2) Where are the best places to do it if it is?

Are you really going to troll this topic again??

It's illegal, so no you can't.

I have not trolled any topic like this.

Asking a question to avoid being in trouble with the law does not constitute trolling.

You've asked multiple times if playing FF for money is illegal.  We've given the same answer ever time.  So yes, now it's a troll topic.

If any law enforcement officials happen to be listening in, I'd like to confess now that I've played multiple fantasy football leagues (and fantasy baseball leagues) for money every season for the last 20+ years.

Book 'em, Dano...Fantasy One!

I'm sure you reported your winnings on your tax return every year, so they'll probably leave you alone. LOL

Last time it was betting on sports, not playing fantasy football.

I was thinking you did too. Although I have never done it myself I have several friends who play in money leagues.

I don't know if you intended for that to be funny; but it was.

I have too short of an attention span to do a season long fantasy league. So last year I tried Fan Duel for the first time and really enjoyed it.  For the season, I ended up ahead by about $500.  However, I spent so much time researching during the week that I think it ended up as being about a dollar an hour for my "labor".  LOL     As a Texas resident, I can't do Fan Duel this year because the courts made it illegal here.  Thankfully DraftKings is still an option so I'm going to give them a try this year.

I'm really curious about this. A Texas judge outlawed one of them only? I don't play either so I'm a bit confused how one can operate and not the other. Is there that much of a difference in their models?

If I recall correctly, I believe I read that the court outlawed it and Fan Duel accepted that, but Draft Kings appealed the ruling.  And while the appeal is still in process, people in Texas can play.  Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is how it is playing out.

That seems reasonable then.
