Remember that you have a home underdog here, playing a team on a four-game win streak, likely coming together to overcome the presence of a rookie QB.

You have to get that rookie QB to make mistakes early and demoralize the team.  Otherwise they just build momentum.

Well I sure hope we have something other than screens. We've already run a bunch and they've sniffed out all of them.

Wasted the Ajayi run with poor execution by Tannehill there.  Should've waited a split second longer on the Ajayi screen, and shouldn't have thrown the pass to Landry.

They're not yet good enough to win when either 1) situational variables are unfavorable (for example, when other teams aren't complacent), or 2) they don't enjoy the benefit of luck (i.e., a strong turnover margin).

You're wise not to expect much.  We're not dealing with a juggernaut here.

Gase needs to get some control over these needless penalties.  That was nearly the difference in the game last week.

I don't know how sensible it is to split Ajayi out wide when he isn't all that great a threat receiving, and play-action to him should be highly effective at this point.  I'd leave him in the backfield and fake it to him.

Perfect example there of where pressure on Tannehill would probably be attributed to the offensive line, whereas his mistake on the play before put the team in an obvious passing situation and permitted the opposing team to call an all-out blitz.

Tannehills is playing like shit

He's 10 for 13 and we have Pouncey, Tunsil, and Albert OUT. Not much more he can do honestly. No protection at all and he is still 10-13 and getting hit hard on a lot of throws

In 2013 the Dolphins beat the Patriots 24-20, Tannehill's QB rating was 121 (YPA 8.4), and the offensive line starters were McKinnie, Brenner, Pouncey, Jerry, and Clabo.

He's going to have to do something similar in the second half here.

His completion percentage is due to his never throwing the ball away and his fucking shit screens.

This is another game riddled with penalties.  Really no excuse for that and indicates a coaching deficiency.

And it was, but you could tolerate that if it wasn't the umpteenth penalty of the day.

Tannehill continues to under perform. At some point, he has to rise to the occasion. He normally does the opposite. If everything has to be near perfect for your QB to win, then you don't have a good QB.

The problem here today is that the offense is most definitely undermanned, and if that's having an effect on Tannehill it's having the effect of making him play extremely poorly, rather than at the average or slightly below average level at which a better QB would perhaps play.

Tannehill doesn't stink.  He's an average QB.  For every game like the one last week, there's one like this.  That's the definition of average.

he still didn't win last week for the record, Kiko did.  When he completed the long pass to Parker and they ended up with the FG and the 24-24, he was walking off the field with a smile.  You think Brady does that?  Not in this lifetime

You're watching a game where both QBs are struggling mightily and 10 total points have been scored in over 3 quarters.

Brady has teammates that bail him out when he has a bad game.

I live in New England where the Patriots have won game after game in which Brady has been sub-average.

Tannehill isn't merely "sub-average" today.  This is poor play at an extreme.  It barely gets any worse than this at the NFL level.

Tannehill is bad.

Tannehill's net YPA today is now 1.3.

Of the 512 games played in the NFL last year, ALL FIVE HUNDRED AND TWELVE of them featured a net YPA higher than that.

I'm not sure you can say Gase has control of this team when there are two weeks in a row of these kinds of penalties.

If it is garbage time it is tannehill time.

Here's where the Dolphins have to pass, the whole world knows it (including the opposing defense), and yet the average Dolphins fan attributes the QB pressure to the linemen.

Notice this is another game where Landry has been shut down.  Those kinds of games almost always feature very little offensive production by the Dolphins.

Believe it or not, Tannehill's QB rating is now slightly higher than Goff's, but because the Dolphins haven't enjoyed the turnover margin they have in recent weeks, the scoreboard says what it does at this point.

3rd and long and the Rams are almost certainly going to run Gurley and be stopped.  This is about when a dumb penalty ensues.

Arguably one of the ugliest, most improbable wins I have witnessed in my 46yrs of being a Phins fan.  

That being said, Tannehill proved the naysayers wrong (that includes me!) and found a way to get his team in position for 2 scoring drives to end the game.  Hats off to him and hope he continue to do so.

All in all, the Def did a good job of keeping Gurley in check and harassed Goff, but I wish the Dolphins had a better Off game plan for most of the game, really underperformed for most of the game.

It's great to be 6-4 and looking towards getting more wins.

I was here all day long and told it like it was all day long.

I feel the same way. I almost want to start an anti- negativity game thread sometimes.

So it seems that going forward, an acceptable form of critique is to evaluate a QB's statistics only on drives that score TDs and then call that a game analysis.

Useful information for the future.  MIA lost by 20?  Just look at Tannehill's YPA on their scoring drives!

No, you can use the overall statistic, as well.

The turnover margin was even.  Miami's YPA for the day was 5.1, and the Rams' was 4.5.

A 4-point win for the team with the higher YPA in a low-scoring game is an expected result, given those features.
