Post by: BuccaneerBrad on December 18, 2016, 08:53:46 pm
After choking away a 17 point lead in Houston, he has been relieved of his head coaching duties

I hope they throw money at Josh McDaniels. Otherwise I'd like to see Scott Linehan in Jax.

This would be a great landing spot for Jeff Fisher.  He could set an NFL record that will never be matched.   8)

The Jags spanked the Titans today under interum coach Doug Marrone.  Not a badway to start an interview for him.

He won't get that job. That offense has been a mess and he was a coach on the offensive side of the ball. Sounds like Coughlin has the job if he wants it in Jacksonville

Does Coughlin  want to repair that mees in Jacksonville.  The same team that got rid of him in its inception.  Coughlin enjoying retirement.

Coughlin wants to coach again and is telling teams he will take their interviews. He's pissed the Giants kicked him to the curb

I think the Jags have some serious talent on both sides of the ball, it's just never come together.  Someone like Coughlin, with a few more pieces, could make them competitive in a year or two.

Does anyone find it interesting how often teams perform well the first week or 2 for an interim coach? They almost always seem to get an immediate impact with a new head coach almost as if there's a weight lifted from the team. To me that speaks for how much of this game at this level is mental rather than physical. A good head coach lifts your team, whereas a poor head coach drags it down.

That could be some of it.  The other part could be similar to the phenomena that often a new QB has a few really good games before regressing.  New coach adds one or two new wrinkles to the game plan the opposing coach isn't expecting once his new ideas are on film they stop working.
