Apparently Timmons has gone AWOL.  Dolphins know where he is.  Armando just tweeted that something angered him and likely won't play today.  WTF!

Well, there goes THAT guaranteed contract.

This pregame news was very upsetting.  Without him, our LB unit may be the worst in the league.  They may be the league worst with him there too, but his his departure certainly doesn't help things.  I hope this development is short lived.

All sorts of weird rumors floating around (happens in a vacuum), so hopefully this will work itself out quickly. Comments from teammates in the news have been cautions, but supportive and hopeful that he'd be back.

Jeez, now it's sounding like a cancer thing or something.  Who knows...

I read yesterday that he was angry with the team over something.  Were those reports untrue?

Barret Robbins wasn't a Phin and is easily the highest profile case.

cops found Timmons at LAX early Sunday morning in a boarding area in an effort to get to Pennsylvania. A team rep met Timmons at the airport and left with him.
So, why Pennsylvania? We're told Timmons had spoken with his baby mama who lives there and had told her he missed the baby and wanted to visit. He was serious about visiting her.

He missed his kid after talking baby mama... ??? Yeah, I'm curious what the psychology evaluation report said about him before he signed that contract? Smh...

UGH!  He had how many weeks to do this before the season OPENER!?  We need the help at LB for sure, but my first reaction is to sit him for at least the next 2 games...won't happen, I'm sure I'll start liking him again if he plays well, but c'mon man!

He started over 100 games without an issue prior to this. Seems likely something more is going on.

Like I said, all sorts of rumors. Everything from pissed at the Fins that they wouldn't pay air fare for his family to wanting to see his kids....

None of the rumors make any sense if the "seeing a doctor"  report is correct.

Surprised a team like Miami who financed their own stadium renovations would not pay for his family's airfare. Definitely a lot more to this situation than we know. Sadly, a lot of it points to his mental state or lack thereof.

So it looks like the "doctor" talk is going down the CTE route.  As in there are questions about Timmons' mental stability.

If so, PIT may have had some insider information in contract talks.

Yeah, it would be for the best if he left the team and retired. Sucks for our defense, but he sounds like he is 4 weeks away from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Why not? Phychologists and psychiatrists are doctors.

What makes this so weird is that the guy has zero history of missing games for any reason at all and was held in high regard as a quality teammate with excellent character. 

I mean, let's not get too crazy with the theories.  We still don't have all the information yet.

I don't think we're at gunshots-in-the-parking-lot territory or anything like that, so let's not overstate things.

It is interesting they can only suspend him for 4 weeks per CBA,but it voids out next years guarantees on his contract...

This has the earmarks of the team covering themselves in the event they decide to cut ties with him. If they really wanted to discipline him then they would have suspended him 4 weeks, not indefinitely. Sounds like this gives them time and options to decide what they will do.

It's mystifying as to why he would just leave the day before the season opener, with no signs of any problems.  Not to mention why he thought he could just rejoin the team this week.  Given Gase spoke to him Monday before announcing his indefinite suspension, and the signing of another LB, I think it's clear his time in Miami is over.  Now Miami will probably have to go to arbitration to try and get the $5.5 mil signing bonus back from him.  He really screwed himself over.

I read today that the move for the other LB was already in the works before Timmons had his issue.

CBS sports is generally reliable.  If true rather than cut him, Dolphins should see if they can trade him to Pittsburgh.

Why does this organization attract these types off guys?

^^^ I know there are physicals taken before any contract is finalized, but are there psychological exams done??  Seems there should be nowadays.  Miami really deserves to get their signing bonus back.  Not to mention it seems the Steelers should be fined for illegal contact with a player under contract to another team.

Seems like the Steelers didn't do anything to initiate the contact and was just caught off guard.  I think the bigger question is what about the way the Dolphins treat players vs the way the Steelers do things made this player decide he wants out.

That's such BS on every level but not shocked coming from you. No other free agent in any other sport ever has done anything like this. To put your "BS Pats spin" on this to paint Miami in a bad light is so transparent as you love to troll this board obviously and anyone who can't see it is blind to it.

Did other free agents who signed this year like Nate Allen, TJ McDonald, Ted Larsen, Anthony Fasano run away from the Dolphins for being treated poorly? Name another player in any other sport (ever) who signed as a free agent only to run back to his previous team team  and do anything like this? You can't! So don't use this to paint Miami in a bad light saying "they treat their players bad." This is an odd situation and a one-off situation we have never seen before in any other sport by any other player. It has nothing to do with how Miami treats their players.

Suspension over. Timmons is back and will play Sunday vs Saints

Funny how getting throttled by the worst team in the league makes you forget what he did.

Within the next two weeks I guarantee he'll get "injured" and be out for the season.

Did it ever come out what happened?  Did he just have a mental break?

So, Timmons has been reinstated and it's likely it will not come anytime soon why he went AWOL, but he's back with the team and hopefully can make an impact at the LB position, which has been hurting lately.

The answer why Timmons is back is because the Dolphins believe they made their point to the veteran linebacker and any player who considers going AWOL hours before a game. The message is you go, you’ll pay for it.

Timmons paid by missing one game check this year. He also will pay for it by basically losing as much as $4.5 million in guarantees he was scheduled to have next season but is now forfeiting. The financial portion of this issue has basically cost Timmons security for next year.

Relatively speaking, he wasn't making much money on a "per game" basis this year; as the majority of money this year was in the form of the signing bonus.
