Title: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Phishfan on June 07, 2018, 01:23:15 pm TO is going to skip his HoF ceremony. I should have guessed he would be the first person to skip what would seem to me to be a great honor. I really don't care that he is doing it because it is his choice but I just hope he isn't doing this as a stunt or that it affects the experience of the others being honored.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: BuccaneerBrad on June 07, 2018, 01:28:14 pm This falls into the White House thread about this new culture where people skip out on things for their own personal benefit. As a society, we've become quite selfish.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Fau Teixeira on June 07, 2018, 02:31:51 pm i don't see the problem with skipping your HoF ceremony .. that's his choice and who cares
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: BigDaddyFin on June 07, 2018, 02:55:39 pm Does anybody care that he's in the HOF?
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on June 07, 2018, 04:25:52 pm TO is flat broke. I am guessing he figures he can make more money by having his own private event and change admission probably in either Cal or Tex than he would make being a part of a program hosted by the NFL.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: CF DolFan on June 07, 2018, 06:43:29 pm Weird :-\
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Spider-Dan on June 07, 2018, 07:56:36 pm Seems to me that TO is salty because he was skipped over for a couple of years, and he feels this is his only mechanism to strike back at the committee that unfairly denied him his rightful place for so long.
From an entertainment standpoint, I love this. But I think TO will ultimately regret it. Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: masterfins on June 08, 2018, 07:33:43 pm TO is an immature child, STILL. This is why teams didn't want him, in spite of his tremendous talents.

Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: BigDaddyFin on June 11, 2018, 08:21:49 am It would be funny if Eagles fans still booed his bust and threw things at it.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Dolphster on June 13, 2018, 12:39:01 pm A lot of young knucklehead pro athletes eventually mature (usually after they have retired) but TO had/has the nice combination platter of being both immature AND a loony tune.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: BuccaneerBrad on July 16, 2018, 09:05:57 am And now the NFL will not individually recognize TO at the ceremony. They will make his bust but they won't mention his name.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Dolphster on July 16, 2018, 09:31:27 am Nor should they. If he wants to be a dick, they should reciprocate.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: CF DolFan on July 16, 2018, 04:14:13 pm I don't even know if they should induct him. If he doesn't care enough to be inducted why should they care to induct him. Seems silly to me.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Spider-Dan on July 16, 2018, 08:19:17 pm I think HOF induction should be based on a player's career, not whether they care to be inducted. The Hall of Fame is not a jilted girlfriend who needs your praise.
If they want to get rid of the ceremony, then fine. But if they voted him in, he should be in. Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Sunstroke on July 17, 2018, 08:41:33 am Nor should they. If he wants to be a dick, they should reciprocate. Actually that's the way it's always been. You only hear about it so much nowadays because of how fast media gets the word around. Fifteen years ago, I could be a dick to the average John Doe and Suzy Q, and there wouldn't be a crowd of people holding up their smartphones recording me doing it. The Hall of Fame is not a jilted girlfriend who needs your praise. I guess. I just kind of feel if you can keep people out for questionable character why not because they refuse to accept it? It's not like the HOF is guaranteed. It's just a place for fans to remember so if he doesn't want to remember why would anyone else. If they want to get rid of the ceremony, then fine. But if they voted him in, he should be in. Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Dolphster on July 17, 2018, 02:53:01 pm Ladies and gentlemen...modern society in a nutshell. Why must you be mature and painfully on point when I'm trying to roll out a purely emotion based hot sports opinion. :) Your point is well taken, sir. Sorry, I hadn't downed enough caffeine by that time of the morning...I was a wee bit surly. ;) Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Dolphster on July 20, 2018, 11:22:24 am Sorry, I hadn't downed enough caffeine by that time of the morning...I was a wee bit surly. ;) On a completely unrelated note, the UK Daily Mail has pictures and a story about your QB Jimmy G, out on a dinner date with porn star Kiara Mia. After 50 years as a Dolphins fan, this kind of story could sway me to start buying 49ers swag. Jimmy bringing da manliness back to the NFL. ;D Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: CF DolFan on July 20, 2018, 03:12:30 pm They were discussing TO with a sports reporter this morning on the Joe Rose show. I tuned in late so didn't catch who it was. Anyway ... they were talking about why he wasn't going and it came down to a few things. The first being he's burned so many bridges that none of the teams he played for were going to pick up the tab ... as it custom. The second being that Randy Moss went in on his first time and TO had to wait until his third. He also was offended by things said about him by some of the voters when they defended not choosing him in years past.

Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: masterfins on July 20, 2018, 07:18:55 pm In the words of Groucho Marks, perhaps T.O. doesn't want to belong to a group that would have him as a member.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: masterfins on August 03, 2018, 01:14:39 pm I was channel surfing last night watching parts of the HOF Game, and caught a few notable moments. Jerry Kramer ended his playing career 49 years ago and is finally getting into the HOF this year. Without outright saying T.O. should get over having to wait an extra two years, he said he wasn't bitter about having to wait so long and is glad to become a HOF member. Second item was Tony Dungy talking about his induction and how he met other inductees extended families during the weekend and built relationships that he still values today. Sadly, T.O. is robbing himself, and his family of these possible friendships, which had nothing to do with him not getting in on his first or second years of eligibility.

Tony was on the Joe Rose show the other day talking about that exact thing. He said that TO wasn't just robbing himself but all his family, friends, and his fans and coaches who have supported him. Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: Pappy13 on August 03, 2018, 06:07:32 pm You mean to tell me that TO is still the same self serving person that got kicked off several teams in the NFL? Shocking! >:D
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on August 06, 2018, 10:08:34 pm Randy Moss’s tie made a statement. TO’s boycott did not.
Title: Re: TO skipping his HoF ceremony Post by: suck for luck on August 08, 2018, 04:24:15 am Michael Brown... LOL
Yeah, he made a statement alright. |
