The INT in the endzone is at 4:30. 

I don't remember the thread, but there was some discussion trying to determine whose fault it is. 

It's really good defense to jam the receiver within 5 yards.  I don't think it's a bad throw, necessarily.

Tannehill, really did look good physically,and made some throws under pressure while getting hit,and overall did well...

Watching that video also showed the O-line did some nice things IMO.A few Ughh...Shit it is the Dolphins O-line too... :D

After watching this, I really just don't like the play call on that INT in the endzone. Up to that point every one of Tannehill's throws require little to no "touch". They are just see the open player and deliver the ball with accuracy and Tannehill was doing that very well. Then they throw that jump ball to Gisecki where Tannehill doesn't even know if Gisecki is going to be open when he throws it, in fact he's not going to be open, Tannehill just has to know exactly where Gisecki is going to be. It's pure timing and coordination between the QB and the TE and it just didn't look good from the route to the pass to the outcome. Get that out of the playbook for now. It's not a play that Tannehill nor Gisecki look good doing. Maybe after a year of playing together that play will work, but not now. Gisecki is fast enough to find an open spot in the endzone and sit down and have Tannehill deliver the ball. It's going to be a tight window but Tannehill is MUCH better at this type of throw then the fade route and Gisecki has good enough hands that it doesn't have to hit him in the numbers to complete it.

One thing I noticed is that all of these short routes are designed to get the ball out of Tannehill's hands quick which means that the offensive line doesn't have to hold their blocks long. As the game went on and Gase got a little confidence in his offensive line they started to go down the field a bit more. That's a good strategy and it worked for the most part. The underneath stuff was getting just enough yardage to compliment the running game. That can work if the running game is working and if when they do take shots down the field they hit enough of them.

All in all this was a good first game for everyone. For Tannehill, the receivers, the running backs and for the offensive line. They moved the ball well enough outside the redzone, now they just have to find some bread and butter plays for the redzone to put more points on the board. Just stay away from the fade...it's not a good play for this offense.

I'll tell you exactly why he threw a jump ball to Gesicki:

Gesicki - 6'6'' - 245lbs - 41.5" vert
Butler - 5'10'' - 187lbs - 33.5" vert

It just didn't work because the pass was too low and Gesicki slipped.  I would make the same play call in Gase's shoes.

This is a case where I think everyone is kinda right.

I didn't like the play call at the time, but looking at the advantage you have in height, you gotta think that's pretty low risk, high reward.  It was a great defensive jam, the ball wasn't placed out of reach of the shorter defender, and the receiver fell down.  It was kind of a perfect storm.

I do think that you were running the ball pretty well, so you probably could've just punched it in with less risk, but all in all, I am not too upset about it.  More often than not, that play is harmless at worst, with a decent shot at a TD.

Tannehill and Gesicki should be able to hit that pass almost anytime they want. The fact they failed falls on both of them.

My problem with the throw is that it should have been higher and more to the outside, so Gesicki could get to it. Yes, he did fall down and has to do a better job in the future of hand-fighting a DB at the LOS and winning that battle  Even if he hadn't lost his footing, he would have been the defender on that pass, cause if you look at the high point of that pass, the DB is already turned around and in position to make the catch.  They'll work on that and get it straightened out,i think this combo of RT-Gesicki could be formidable in the future

I'll follow this up with what Oronde Gadsden said today.  He said it looked like a communication error between the two. He also said it could take a year or two to iron that out and it isn't as easy as you think. They both have to know what shoulder, how high, how low or inside or outside the pass is going to be based on how the DB plays it.

Anyway that play is just so stupid.  How many times does it have fail before they stop doing it?  They are lucky he didn't take that to the house.

Exactly. This might be a great play a year from now, but it needs work at this point and I would remove it from the playbook till they can run it better.
