Title: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: dolphins4life on September 30, 2018, 04:10:50 pm The players definitely had to be devastated by this. I know they wanted to come out and prove that they could take the AFC East this year.
In my other thread I talked about avoiding a repeat. So far, this is exactly like 2013. The Dolphins won their first three games that year, and then were blown out. Gase needs to prove he is not like Philbin. The next four games are very winnable for Miami. The 2013 lost the next four after starting 3-0. Gase needs to avoid that. I knew DB would show up when I saw that the score was 31-0. Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: Dave Gray on September 30, 2018, 05:45:08 pm I think you just throw it out and move on. This is a game you lose. Pats were against the wall at home. You expect it
Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: dolphins4life on September 30, 2018, 10:03:03 pm As a fan, I feel doubt from the 2013 season.
Do you think the players feel that? Like, "Here we go again." Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: BeanCounter on September 30, 2018, 10:49:26 pm Gase has to take complete blame for this loss. His team was given a chance to take a 3 game lead in the AFCE and didn’t bother showing up. His team failed in every aspect of this game. I can live with a loss on the road to the Pats where the Dolphins put up a fight, but to be embarrassed like this is totally unacceptable. Hopefully this loss lights a fire under this teams ass for the rest of the season.
Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: CF DolFan on September 30, 2018, 11:08:54 pm I agree with Dave. I wouldn’t even watch and critique the film as it wouldn’t help. Move on and prepare for Cincy. We may not be world beaters but we do know how to play the game.
Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on October 01, 2018, 08:30:42 am quick question if i had asked on sept 1, how would you feel if after 4 games the dolphins were 3-1 and in first place in the afce, what would have been your response?
dolphins had an ugly game, about as ugly as the one the patriots had against the lions. so you do what the patriots. learn from the mistakes and improve for next week. no doubt being 3-0 and watching the lions pats game got the fins cooky and they got smacked for it. but fundamentally the fins are a team that should be in the playoff race. Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: BigDaddyFin on October 01, 2018, 08:34:35 am You come out and you say exactly what the reality of the situation is.
That team is not going to lose three games in a row especially at home. That game was effectively a playoff game for them because if they don't win they're three down after 4 games and need to go on streak just to get back to even. They're too well coached they're too talented for them not to come out and try and explode like that. By the same token we're younger and don't have the same experience. We'll see them again when it (hopefully) counts on our own turf. We're going to chalk this one up as a learning situation and see what we can apply while we get ready for Cincinnati. Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: DaLittle B on October 01, 2018, 09:44:45 am I agree with Hoodie, about we should be ecstatic with going 3-1 to open the season, and I have a hard time at the anger...
Most of us predicted a loss,ok,I get it was ugly.IMO but shouldn't have been unexpected...The Patriots had 3 weeks of blue plans on how to destroy us,and are smart enough to put it all together, and use it... The Raiders showed how we could be pounded by the run,and showed we're prone to big mistakes (defensively). The Titans, showed holes in our secondary, but Marriota going down, Gabbert couldn't take advantage of.The Jets were showed the same, except it was Darnold's inexperience of being a rookie QB,couldn't take advantage of it... I'm more bothered by what the extremely annoying ass Rich Gannon kept saying about our Wr's.." They are just not getting open, there isn't anyone for Tannehill to throw the ball too"...For all these Speed upgrade, and how much better they are...It's the same problem we seemed to have in the past... I was confused by "here we go again" part as most of the players weren't here in 2013 (only few current Dolphins were on the 2013 team),and Gase was in Denver in 2013...They don't have those frames of references... This is a game is a dumpster fire you close the dumpster, and hopefully we can smoke and mirror some of the holes away for Cincy... Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: Tenshot13 on October 01, 2018, 10:28:30 am We are a speed team on offense and defense that does well against power defenses and speedy offenses. We do not do well against teams that pound it between the tackles or fast defenses that can run sideline to sideline. NE was a terrible match-up with us, and we need to find a way to combat those types of teams.
Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: CF DolFan on October 01, 2018, 11:48:40 am I think the biggest problem is this team had a chance to prove they were at the top of the league and instead proved they are the same ole Dolphins. They may make the payoffs but only as someone else's first round fodder. Not much different in being 6-10 or 9-7. That's middle of the road and we've been there so long I can't remember any different.
Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: MaineDolFan on October 01, 2018, 02:19:22 pm It's one game.
Look, last week New England looked like dog ___ against Detroit. They came home and were world beaters against us. Miami beat Oakland who couldn't get out of their own way on offense last week. This week, against a really good Browns defense, they jacked up Cleveland. Each week is really something new. Which is why I would not expect to see the same Bengals team from yesterday next week. I think Miami has shown some shades of what they are: Young, fast, aggressive. I think the Dolphins have the potential to be a 10-6, 11-5 type team. They also have the potential to stink up the joint. Two road games, back to back, against pretty good clubs, won't show us much of anything (win or lose, I'd prefer a 'w'). Title: Re: What do you say if you are Adam Gase? Post by: Spider-Dan on October 01, 2018, 08:17:09 pm The good news is that MIA will be off of everyone's radar until around week 10. If they go into that game in Green Bay at 6-3 or 7-2 and then win, you might start to hear some chatter about how the Dolphins might be good.
So if this team wasn't ready to handle the pressure of national expectations, at least they shouldn't have to worry about it again for a while. |
