I really like these breakdown videos.  This one shows Tannehill missing reads that would've led to huge gains on several occasions.  Interesting stuff.

I just saw this on reddit and was going to post here.  Some of those were pretty infuriating, especially the int to Wilson that should have been to Grant and a wide open Drake when he was sacked.  Biggest knock has always been not going through progressions quick enough.

I think the Amendola and Gore in the flat were inexcusable. How much more wide open can you get than those two plays?

I really wish he'd tell you it's the 1st quarter,1st down and 10....He mentions down and distance...

The one he did on the oline,he actually isn't near as chipper?...

I admit,I've been overly hard on Drake, after watching that he's not getting much of a chance to do a whole lot.. :-[

Ever notice how much better we do when Tannehill runs a few times during a game. One game he'll get 50 yards rushing and then nothing for a few games. I think that's the key for as long as we have Tannehill. We have no consistency.

That video was pretty telling...Tannehill is mostly accurate when he plants his feet, has great zip on the ball, has a good deep throw, but can't read his progressions quick enough.  I think that's why they do the option plays where he runs, it keeps the defense off balance so when he does pass, his primary or secondary read will typically be open because the defense is playing honest.

Yeah, but sometimes it doesn't have to be a RPO. A couple of those plays he could have taken off and gotten some positive yardage. If he sees a lane and is able to get 3-4 yards then he should take the yards. That's the difference between 3rd and 3 and 3rd and 7.

He's not Marino as far as throwing the ball, but he is mobile where Marino was not. They're going to have to take advantage of our strengths. Tannehill just isn't quick enough to make the reads with our OL in the shape it's in. We can't shoehorn him into something he's not. He'll never be a great pure pocket passer, that's the reality.

I think Tanny had a bad game. Receivers were slow getting off the line and he didn't handle it well. Hopefully it isn't the new norm.  Not sure why we didn't run more options, bootlegs and waggles to help him.

thanks for sharing.

In the words of Dennis Green, "he is who we thought he was"  Seriously, his ceiling has been reached and at 30 yrs old "he is what he is"  I've tried to patient with the dude, but RT lacks awareness and has a great tendency to lock on WRs when others are open, as pointed out in the video.

Gase has hitched his wagon to this guy and will live die with him. He thinks since he was around Peyton for some seasons and got "Smokin' Joe" Cutler to not fock up too much for a season that he's some kind of QB "whisperer"

Gase reminds me of that fraud Joe Philbin.  "Hey, look at me! I was QB coach for Aaron Rodgers!!!!"  Fock, I could be QB coach for Aaron Rodgers and get decent nos. out of him, for fock's sake

If he doesn't get this team to 9 wins or a playoff berth, you got to go a different direction next year and either draft a QB or get  a FA that has the skills you're looking for.

He's been for 7 years!!!!!  Yeah, I know he missed last season due to injury, but that just tacks on another year on the age of the body.
Personally, if he doesn't get this team past 8-9 wins this season, they should draft a kid or make a move for FA

^Philbin couldn't sniff Gase's jock strap, come on man!

To be honest, you're correct.  Gase is bigger step up than Philbin.  But the thing that drives me crazy with Gase is his press conferences after a loss, he's just flippant about stuff and he gets offended when you question why they didn't this or try that.  I give HCs on this shit when they win or have created winning programs and obviously they're doing something right, but when when you're a losing program you need to be a little more humble about shit.

I think Gase, Tannehill and our running game have looked like geniuses when they have an offensive line. When they don't not so much. Just two weeks ago Tanny was being discussed among the best and then one game happened. This team is losing in the trenches on both sides and that's what they need to address. I have to wonder why we haven't worked out a deal with someone like Vance Joseph for DeMarcus Walker or similar. He's buried on their depth chart and hasn't played this season. He would do well here. I'm sure there are others just like that.

Bust QB---->Decent Backup---->Below average starter---->Average starter--->Above average starter (Tannehill)---->Great QB (Philip Rivers maybe?)---->Elite QB

I'd say that's a fair flow chart, it could be worse at QB for us, but man I think this team would be a perennial contender if they had a Great QB that can read through their progressions.

In my opinion, Tannehill is never going to be able to read his progressions and be a straight passer. We need to more rollouts and RPOs. Not to mention on regular pass plays, he's going to have become more like a Mike Vick or Russell Wilson and improvise. I don't like those type of QB's, but that's his strength. With our OL in shambles, we're going to have to move the pocket and keep Tannehill mobile. I know he has knee issues but that's tough shit. If we don't use his strengths to our advantage then we might as well start over and get another QB.
