Title: Question for Florida Dolphins fans
Post by: stinkfish on March 09, 2019, 01:08:47 pm
Would you remain Dolphins fans if the team relocated and were no longer in Florida? Being in Massachusetts, I don’t think that it would bother me too much. But I’m not a home town fan anyway. Just curious.

I'm not a Florida Dolphins fan, but I'll answer anyway:

I became a Dolphins fan because my previous team (LA Rams) moved.  Since then, I had another one of my favorite teams (Seattle Sonics) move, and I also dropped them.  So my answer to the question is a resounding "no."

The irony here is that the normal motivation for dropping a team because of a move is that the team is no longer local... but none of my favorite teams were local to begin with.  For me, the reason why I would stop being a fan is that I can't continue to support the team after the ownership has stabbed my fellow fans in the back.

I really don't know. I didn't live in Florida when I became a fan but I have always been disappointed when teams I wasn't a fan of moved.

Unless it was to another Florida city I'm not sure I would. I don't think of the Indianapolis Colts as being the Baltimore Colts and probably wouldn't think of the Memphis Dolphins as the Miami Dolphins.

Hard to say...probably not, but it depends how it went down.  ...especially if another team popped up locally.
