Title: Comparing the Scouting Combine to slavery Post by: BuccaneerBrad on February 24, 2020, 05:16:22 pm I see people on Facebook putting up memes of slaves being poked, prodded and measured back in the days, next to pictures of NFL prospects having the same thing done to them at the Combine. They then proceed to refer to it as modern slavery.
I, for one, think that is the biggest crock of shit I've ever seen. You're comparing men who were dragged from their homes against their will, forced to travel overseas and perform hard labor in nasty conditions for nothing but scant room and board with men who are playing the game they love and have a chance to make millions doing it. Thoughts? Title: Re: Comparing the Scouting Combine to slavery Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on February 24, 2020, 05:41:35 pm Combine is a weird ass job interview. Comparing it to slavery trivializes slavery.

Agreed but slavery was a sad part of American history whereas the Combine is a rite of passage that all elite NFL prospects go through. It may be weird but it is necessary. If I'm paying you millions, I want to make sure you can play well enough to earn those millions. Therefore, I want to know everything about you.
