Title: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: Pappy13 on March 13, 2020, 11:03:06 am Did Lee do this for the Dolphins or did he do this for someone else's benefit that might be interested in Herbert with the 2nd pick in the draft?

Post by: CF DolFan on March 13, 2020, 11:09:50 am We will find out soon ... LOL. It's nice to see Herbert do well. If nothing else he gives us another legit option. I wasn't impressed with his last two games but then again ... he didn't need to carry his team either.
Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: Pappy13 on March 13, 2020, 11:59:40 am Saw a mock draft today where the Dolphins drafted Herbert with #5 and Henry Ruggs III with #18. That would be interesting. Perhaps they feel that Herbert didn't have the players to throw to that Tua did?
Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 13, 2020, 12:28:27 pm Herbert's issue isn't his arm, which is great, it's his defensive reads. Lots of people have cannons but it takes a lot more than that to succeed as a QB in this league.

You can't teach a guy how to throw a ball 60 yards in the air flat footed. You either can do that or you can't.Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Think he was able to throw the ball from the 50 yard line to the endzone on his knees. Cannon arms are worthless if you don't know where it is going. Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: Pappy13 on March 13, 2020, 02:31:40 pm And then there's Aaron Rodgers who a lot of scouts said similar things about. I don't know where those scouts are now...I know Aaron Rodgers will be in the hall one day. There are no crystal balls.
Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: CF DolFan on March 13, 2020, 03:21:20 pm LMAO .... it's so funny that you guys are bringing up reading defenses. Just last week Patrick Mahomes revealed he didn't know how to read defenses until 'halfway through last year'.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/patrick-mahomes-reveals-he-didnt-know-how-to-read-defenses-until-halfway-through-last-year/ Obviously that doesn't make Herbert a shoe-in to learn but apparently isn't that uncommon. Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: Sunstroke on March 16, 2020, 10:11:18 am Perhaps they feel that Herbert didn't have the players to throw to that Tua did? Since Alabama easily had the best WR corps in college football last year, that seems reasonable to me... I like Herbert... I just like Tua a bit more. Title: Re: So now the 64K $ question.... Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 16, 2020, 11:29:26 am All this being said, IF Tua is gone by the time we pick, whether the Redskins take him or someone gives up their future in draft picks for him, I think I would draft Herbert at #5. There is a lot of talent there and I just don't see a scenario where we will pick this high again anytime soon. Not to mention there is almost never a good QB under 40 to hit the FA market and it might be our best shot at getting a franchise QB.
Tanny didn't even hit the market this year and he was the best available as long as you didn't want Brady for 1 year. QBs worth a damn just aren't allowed to hit free agency. |
