Title: Youtube video on the Texans
Post by: dolphins4life on March 03, 2021, 12:41:35 am
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DETQKUAFNEQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DETQKUAFNEQ)

2015: They make the playoffs (lose first round)
2016: They make the playoffs (lose second round)
2017: Missed playoffs
2018: They make the playoffs (lose first round)
2019: They make the playoffs (lose second round)
2020: Missed playoffs

They made the playoffs four out of six years, and won two playoffs games.  If that is worthy of ridicule, I hope nobody makes a video about the Dolphins anytime soon.

2021: 4-12
2022: 5-11
2023: 5-11

This is why they are worthy of ridicule. They destroyed their own team and with such bad ownership, no reason to believe they will be sniffing the playoffs any time soon.

You have no way of knowing that that will happen.

Also, even if it does, and Miami makes the playoffs all three years, which doesn't seem likely, they still will have outperformed Miami.

It's not that hard to figure out.  They've had no first or second round pick for the last two years and they are capped out.  Plus Watson will eat up a huge chunk of their cap space.

Their new GM better be pretty savvy at evaluating talent in the later rounds in order for them to have a chance at being competetive.

My point is, even if they are not competitive for three years, so what?  They still had a very good six year run.

To be clear, since 2010, HOU has had:

- a 3-time Pro Bowl QB
- a 3-time All-Pro (and 4-time Pro Bowl) WR
- another 3-time Pro Bowl WR
- a 3-time DPOY (and 5 time All-Pro) DE
- another 3-time Pro Bowl DE
- an All-Pro (and 4-time Pro Bowl) LT
- another 2-time Pro Bowl LT
- an All-Pro (and 4-time Pro Bowl) RB
- another All-Pro and Pro Bowl RB
- a 2-time Pro Bowl DB

And what did they accomplish with this embarrassment of riches at the key skill positions?  They failed to make it past the divisional round, and lost those games by an average of 18 points.

Is that something to laugh at?  They have a had a very good run.

They had an incredible amount of talent and completely wasted it.

Well, if "wasted it" means not winning a Super Bowl, most teams wasted those years, too.

Their six year run was quite good.

People on this board act like Miami Fleeced them in that trade.  I think four playoff appearances in six years is well worth two first round and two second round picks.  Heck, I'd do it for FOUR first round and FOUR second round picks.

Have you ever heard anyone say that Rex Ryan "wasted" the talent he had on the Jets by only making two AFC Championship Games?  Because I haven't.

You don't have to win the Super Bowl or be declared a failure.  But with that kind of talent, you should at least make it to the conference finals.

So the laughable part was not making it the conference championships?

They surely would have won at least 5 Super Bowls in the last 10 years...if it wasn't for those damned refs.

Pretty sure the kicker was in on the whole conspiracy as well.

Plus Bill O'Brien for trading away all of their talent and draft picks for pennies.

The laughable part was the 2019 playoffs where they had KC on the ropes and let them back in the game.  Blew a 24 point lead in ONE QUARTER.

How many times in your life have you seen a football game in which a team with a 24-point lead loses by 20 points?
It was obscene and pathetic.

You are right in that that is the only time in NFL history that that has happened.

However, it's still better than not making the playoffs.  And it's still better than not making it past the first round of the playoffs,

Wrong again.   You're probably too young to remember the 1992 playoffs but the Houston Oilers had a 35-3 halftime lead over the Buffalo Bills and lost 41-38.  The fallout after that game was tremendous.  I believe every one of Houston's defensive assistant coaches got the axe after that game.

The Oilers did not lose by 20 points in that game.

Actually, you are wrong.  It was 28-3 at the half.  The Oilers returned a pick for a score to make it 35-3 early in the third quarter.
