We all saw this coming once we drafted Holland. Basically a cap casualty but his play was not remarkable either, just solid although he was a very good teammate. I hope the turnover on defense doesn't lead to any issues.

I thought he was a pretty good player and I'm sad to see him go, though I get it.  I hope he has a good career elsewhere.

Our Safety unit was ranked the 11th worst last year. He had flashes of really good play but was average at best the rest of the time. We wouldn't have drafted his replacement if the team thought highly of him. He will definitely land on his feet.

That sums up my thoughts as well. 

McCain wasn't awful...he just wasn't great.

Jevon Holland will be a great safety.

Very bold move.

While I did have an upgrade for McCain on my wish list for the draft, I wasn't quite expecting him to be cut immediately for a rookie.
 

+1.  Well he got paid $10M for last season, including his signing bonus.  I would have thought we could have gotten at least a 7th round pick in a trade, but maybe no one wanted to pay him almost $7M per year.

I don't know how the NFL works with June 1st cuts and all that, but I think this was done as a favor to Bobby so he can latch onto another team quickly. He was the secondary captain, so he was respected.
