Title: How is the pandemic still affecting you? Post by: Dave Gray on June 10, 2021, 01:11:21 pm This is a 2-part question:
1) Even though we've talked about it to death, where are you in regard to your own safety for yourself and your family? Are you back to doing all the things that you want to do? Going to movies, sporting events, bars? 2) Is there anything you're not back to doing 100% because it's not available to you yet? For me, most of what I'm not doing is personal choice, just because I've gotten accustomed to not doing stuff so I like the solitude. I haven't gone to see new movies (except for one birthday party), because I'm happy that there are alternatives and I don't have to. My kids aren't vaccinated, so I'm still not just throwing caution to the wind. They want to go to this place called DEFY (like a trampoline place), but I won't take them until this is over. I don't want to go anyway, so maybe that's an excuse. We still go to the zoo and parks and open air stuff. I miss theme parks with my kids, but I'll wait that out. ...not only do I want my kids vaccinated before introducing unnecessary risk, I don't want to have to think about masking on vacation -- I'd rather just get some distance from it. What I haven't been doing that I would like to is my charity work. I wear Star Wars costumes at local events, like conventions, hospitals, but also parades and local library fund-raisers. Some of those are just NOT happening (hospitals), but even ones that are, like parades -- there's a more limited capacity. Cons aren't being attended in big numbers and the local fundraising walkathons and stuff aren't happening at all. That will probably be a big return to normalcy for me. Other that that, the stuff I'm not doing, I'm happy to not be doing. I like working hybrid home/office, so I plan to keep that up -- It helps keep the stress down because I'm not fighting traffic and am more available. And I don't have to do a lot of the social stuff like birthdays and shit, that are obligation more than anything. I assume that will creep back over time. Once the football season starts, that will also be big, because it's a reason to gather with my friends again. Title: Re: How is the pandemic still affecting you? Post by: Tenshot13 on June 10, 2021, 02:55:07 pm I'm vaccinated. Numbers are waaaay down. I'm going places without a mask, and getting back to a normal life. We just did a bar crawl with a lot of our friends last weekend with no masks, we're living life like before the pandemic.

My commute got faster with everyone off the roads...so I guess the only affect would be that my commute takes longer once again. Title: Re: How is the pandemic still affecting you? Otherwise I can't think of a single thing that has changed for us. I only wear a mask at physical therapy because they still require it. We eat out several times a week with different people and groups but have gotten used to bad or slow service. I guess that's the biggest thing that has changed for me personally. Service at many places has taken a dive.
