Title: Panthers cut player for hard hit Post by: ArtieChokePhin on August 04, 2021, 09:10:18 pm In practice yesterday, rookie corner JT Ibe delivered a helmet to helmet hit on receiver Keith Kirkwood. The hit sent Kirkwood to the hospital with a concussion. Ibe was cut later that day.

Most coaches would've berated him and given him extra calisthenics as punishment. A few coaches would've cut him on the spot but I can't think of any other than JJ. I think the fact that the receiver had to go to the hospital with a concussion tipped the scales. And I doubt it was this one play was the sole reason for being cut. More likely the straw that broke the camel’s back, with him already have made multiple serious mistakes in practice and he was someone who needed be perfect for the rest of camp to make the 53 cut. It certainly sends the right message to the team about avoiding foolish penalties. |
