Title: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 29, 2022, 06:56:39 pm That is per PFT.
If he is coming to the NFL, then we need to get him. He has the most success and would bring the best staff. Of course, if he is coming back to the NFL, why wouldn't he interview with us first? Is Ross that more loyal to Michigan over Miami? Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: CF DolFan on January 29, 2022, 07:34:53 pm I am not a fan of his but even he would be a better choice than the guys we short listed.

He has the most success and would bring the best staff. Of course, if he is coming back to the NFL, why wouldn't he interview with us first? He can't interview with MIA first. The whole point of the "I'm not going to be the one to take Jim Harbaugh from Michigan" song & dance is for Ross to have clean hands if Harbaugh leaves. If Harbaugh's FIRST interview is with Miami, then the Dolphins wooed him away to the NFL. But if his first interview is with another team - or preferably, several other teams - then Harbaugh had made up his mind to go back to the NFL either way, and so the Dolphins were just the best landing spot. I'm honestly starting to believe this "conspiracy". Then again, I might just be using it as a coping mechanism for how poorly we have done so far in the head coach search. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 31, 2022, 10:12:37 am ESPN is reporting the interview went very well and Harbaugh has legitimate interest in the job. It's probably his if he wants it.
So, balls in Miami's court now. We interview McDaniel again today and he has fans within the organization. I think we will have a new HC by Wednesday due to process of elimination but I have no idea who it will be. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: CF DolFan on January 31, 2022, 10:37:29 am Most of us thought that as soon as Flores was fired. What we didn't see coming was Ross and Harbaugh trying to save Michigan recruiting first.

What we didn't see coming was Ross and Harbaugh trying to save Michigan recruiting first. Ross puts his money where his mouth is. The city wouldn't build a new stadium for the team so he renovated ours with hundreds of millions from his own pocket. I have a lot of respect for that and feel it should be that way with all owners. That being said, it seems clear that Miami is not his #1 sports priority and may not even be Top 3 when it comes down to all his business interests. I genuinely believe he wanted to save Michigan recruiting first but somehow it leaked that Harbaugh had an NFL interview and now we will see how that affects the whole thing. If he does leave, Michigan brought it on themselves. Cutting his salary in half after a bad Covid shortened season that was pure insanity all around. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: CF DolFan on January 31, 2022, 12:25:30 pm From a Dave Hyde article today .... made me chuckle. From what I keep reading there are a lot of people who have no idea how involved Ross is with Michigan football. Dave Hyde does though.
I’m not saying Jim Harbaugh is the greatest and most essential football coach on the market. It’s not clear if he’s great, essential or even on the market. I’m just saying if University of Michigan owner Steve Ross won’t let Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross hire Harbaugh out of some schoolboy allegiance, it’s an injustice to his pro team. And its players. And its fans. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 31, 2022, 12:46:27 pm From a Dave Hyde article today .... made me chuckle. I can't see how it's illegal by NFL Rules standards but it certain is immoral and shows your commitment to another football team over your own. If Harbaugh goes back to the NFL and it's not with us, I'm not going to have too much confidence in the upcoming season. If Harbaugh goes back to the NFL and it's not with us, I'm not going to have too much confidence in the upcoming season. I got to be honest with you. If the Dolphins completely screw up this coaching hire, I'm seriously considering giving up on them. I don't live in Miami and I never have. I started rooting for Miami because of Shula and then because of Dan Marino. I'm tired of this franchise being where they are and not being able to do anything positive. If they screw this up, I might be changing allegiances. I barely watch the games as they are now because I don't enjoy watching them, mostly I only watch once the game is over and I know whether they won or lost so it's not so painful to watch. I'm close to my breaking point with this team and this coaching hire could put me over the edge. When they started to look for a coach and Ross said he wanted to hire one with some experience, I was excited, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside and they're back to just finding a hot OC that doesn't appear to know the first thing about being a head coach. If that happens, it might be the last straw for me.Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: Phishfan on February 01, 2022, 12:25:13 am I got to be honest with you. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2022, 08:50:15 am I read something wrong, Harbaugh did not interview yet. The Vikings are flying him in tomorrow for the interview and NFL Network reports he is already deep in the process and a finalist for the job.
Several times I've been furious with this franchise, usually I am just apathetic. Wannstedt refusing to move on from Fiedler is one. Winning those December games in 2019 is another. Letting Harbaugh go to Minnesota would be another one. There is no way he prefers Minnesota over us, we are the far superior team on the field and have better draft(next year) and salary cap capital. If he is coming back to the NFL, and it looks like he is, make him the Godfather offer today. He can't board that plane for Minnesota. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2022, 09:44:44 am why would we want harbaugh? when has he ever won anything ? The list of available coaches who have ever won anything is Pedersen and no one else. Harbaugh has been to the Superbowl and arguably would've won it if not for a bad final call. Excellent record with the Niners until he left due to issues with their GM, who is in the process of being run out of town in Jacksonville after 1 year. He did have lots of success with Michigan but college is different in that recruiting is half the battle and coaching is a distant second. There is a reason Saban is a legend and it ain't Xs and Os. Of all the chocies available to us right now, Harbaugh is miles ahead of whoever number 2 is. Proven success who would field the best staff due to length in the game. Can't see me rooting for the Cowboys as I've never liked them. Been thinking about retiring to Tennesse so perhaps that would make a good team to switch to? I could also go back to my roots and root for the Bears I suppose as I'm still a fair weather fan of both the Blackhawks and the White Sox so that would make some sense. Don't know, hadn't got to that point yet and I'm hoping I don't, but I don't think I've ever been this disheartened with this team. It's been a very long time rooting for them, some 40+ years now and to have never seen them come out on top and lately not even win a playoff game is tough. Just about every other team in the league I've seen have success since I started rooting for Miami, maybe if I switch teams Miami would actually win something and I could take some solace in that. I know how pathetic that sounds, but it's honestly where I'm at right now. With Alex Smith and then a QB who would eventually get benched for Blaine Gabbert. That's right, THE Blaine Gabbert. I can understand trashing Harbaugh's attitude but his NFL resume is awesome and there is no one available with a better one. Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: pondwater on February 01, 2022, 03:41:01 pm I think the smart money would pick either Harbaugh or Pederson if available. Anything else is insanity. If they're not available, make them available. Ross net worth is $8.5 BILLION. Open the fucking checkbook and convince one of them. Otherwise why did you buy the fucking team? Everyone is for sale for the right price.

Maybe because Harbaugh hasn't forgotten the first time Ross tried to woo him to Miami and the way Ross went about it. It's hard to shed a reputation as a bumbling idiot. He clearly doesn't know much about football and is usually busy giving money to Michigan and whatever his NY dealings are. Get your contract under your terms and you're set. The fact that not even a rumor of Ross talking to Harbaugh right now is scaring me. If you had $8,500 in your savings account would you think twice about blowing $50-100 on a hobby over 5-10 years? I mean I'd think about it, but at the end of the day, there is no need owning an NFL franchise if you're not willing to do what it takes to win. Hell what did he spend on the stadium renovation for his laughing stock NFL team?Title: Re: Jim Harbaugh Interviewing with Vikings This Week Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2022, 04:13:33 pm I can't believe it's not a done deal with either Harbaugh or Pederson. Fairley certain the coach's salary is a tax write off anyway since it's a business expense. There must be something else and it might be appeasing Michigan. If Harbaugh gets on that plane tomorrow, pretty sure it's a done deal for him and Minnesota. Strange timing though since it's not really one of the more desirable job openings. Almost like he made up his mind just a few days ago to leave Michigan.
