Took a few shots at Jimbo Fisher and Deion Sanders for buying players.   And they came back at him with barrels blazing.   Now that paying players is legal, he's no longer the big bag man in the room and Alabama can't compete with the Texas oil money.

He is not wrong.

Old system recruitment based on what team gives you the best chance of a national championship, prepare you for NFL, reputation of school, popularity of coach.  New system based on who can raise the most cash.  While the old system was far from perfect, I think it was better than the new one.

Yep.  For years Saban was the bagman.  And while Alabama puts a lot of money into their football team, they can't hold a candle to Texas oil money.  Especially because Alabama alumni aren't rich by any means.  

Now that cash payments are legal, you'll see more players going to schools that are not football powers.  That's how Coach Prime was able to flip two recruits that were all but locks to go to Florida State and Miami and get them to attend a Division 1-AA school.  Imagine if a group of doctors, lawyers or CEOs that went to Stanford or Harvard decided to become football boosters.

More money going to kids already on full scholarship.  Less alumni funds going to academic and need based scholarships. 

Because those entities don't generate money like football and men's basketball does

I think you incorrectly assume that these sports booster alumni would give the same money to academic and need based scholarships.
