Title: Most Overrated/Underrated Teams going into 2022 Season Post by: Dave Gray on September 06, 2022, 02:47:27 pm I think there are lots of teams that get a free pass based on nothing. The Browns seem to get a bump in the offseason and they're still trash.
I'm going with most overrated: Chargers -- Everyone is on Herbert's jock but he's not performed yet and I don't see any reason to think that team is going to be a contender. Most under-rated: Jets, maybe. They're still bad, but they were so, so, so bad last year. I think they'll be a middle of the road / below average team, but not a dumpster fire. They pose a significant contender for having an undefeated season.
Overrated: Packers. They won at least FOUR games last year due to HORRID calls. I hope there is no repeat of that this year. Edit: They were a very good team last year. They added Logan Ryan and Julio Jones. That's scary. Plus Brady probably feels bitter about how last season ended. If they add Gronk mid-season, YIKES!!!! Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated Teams going into 2022 Season Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 07, 2022, 11:10:05 am Buffalo Bills are the most overrated. Two years running they have either been the healthiest team or Top 5 healthiest team (not counting Covid). Being healthy is a skill but in the NFL, it's also luck. Doesn't matter how healthy you are, if a 350 pound Linemen blows by your Left Tackle and falls on your leg, you're getting hurt.
I would anticipate their luck running out a bit this year. Pure Homer call here but I think the most underrated team is us. We won 9 games last year and then dramatically improved in free agency in almost every weak area we had. Too early to tell with the coach but all signs point to him being much better than Flores. I think the estimates of 9-10 wins are too low. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated Teams going into 2022 Season Post by: masterfins on September 07, 2022, 10:31:52 pm Overrated: Chiefs & Titans
Underrated: Miami & Jacksonville Most Improved: Could be the Jets. On paper I thought they had a really good draft, but it could take a year for those players to develop, which is tough playing in NY. Now I find that their QB is out the first 3 weeks, so I might have to adjust this choice. Even if he's back, he'll have to find his form, gel, etc. And they suck on top of it. Not good for them. But also, Fuck the Jets. Wilson was thrown to the wolves last year, so they got him some support in the offseason but he needs to be legit for this team to succeed. They don't have a team that can win unless he is excellent. Title: Re: Most Overrated/Underrated Teams going into 2022 Season Post by: Downunder Dolphan on September 10, 2022, 11:55:44 am I look at that NFC East division and see a potential minefield.
I see both the Eagles and the Cowboys have the potential to be the most overrated or underrated teams this year. The Eagles seem to have a loaded offseason in regard to both draft and trading - as much as the microscope seems to be on Tua, it should (fairly or not) equally be so on Hurts. That team gets as far as he does... a lot are predicting a huge breakout year for the Eagles. I won't be surprised if it happens, and equally not surprised if it doesn't. Which leads me to the Cowboys. They have gone from a potential Superbowl contender a few years ago, to virtually winning the division by default. They will again heavily lean on Zeke, but the injuries are already mounting and you know it will all come down to whether Zak delivers or not. Like the Eagles I see a lot of talent on paper there, but it's a 50/50 as to if it is the bomb, or if it all bombs. |
