Title: The Crowd Crush
Post by: dolphins4life on October 31, 2022, 05:32:55 pm
I can't believe something like this could happen.

Have any of you been in a crowd crush before?

Was everybody just too drunk to have any concern for others?

The closest I came was at King Richard's Faire in 2021, when we all had to rush to the exits in a downpour, but we all worked together to make it safe and efficient.

I have been in some crowds that start pushing a little bit and you start to feel off balance where your torso isn't above your feet and you're held up by getting squished on the person next to you.  It's never happened in a huge, huge crowd, but I imagine once a few people start to fall over and there isn't that squish to hold you up, things get real bad, real fast.

And the pressure from the crowd isn't from the people right near those getting crushed.  ...it's from people way away that have no idea what they're causing.  And then panic sets in where people are trying to protect themselves and that's how people get trampled.

I've been on the bottom of a pile of people in my football playing days, not a good feeling.
