This year's elections aren't even over and we already have an asshole announcing his candidacy for the next election.

As for some others announcing they are running, stupid reporters ask the question 4 years before a race so they might as well just say they are running to avoid having the question posed to them every other week. They do have to have their campaign formally registered before announcing, which is why most politicians put it off.
