Title: Saturday Slate
Post by: Dave Gray on December 17, 2022, 12:54:55 pm
I like D4L's recent posts about which games are good for the Dolphins.  I was waiting to give him the opportunity to post, but since I don't think he'll get to it, I'll take over today.

Colts at Vikings 1PM
This doesn't appear to affect us in any way that I can tell.

Ravens at Browns 4:30PM
Dolphins want Ravens to lose this game.
Since we lost to the Bengals, we need them to win the division, so that the Ravens are in the wildcard race and we can utilize our tiebreaker advantage over them, if it comes down to that.

Dolphins at Bills 8:15PM
Obviously a Dolphins win is what we want.  A tie would also be helpful, as it would lock in tiebreaker over the Bills, though it's unlikely to catch up 2 games if this isn't one of them.

It is optimistic for scenario two with Jackson out.

Colts are rolling over the Vikings right now

I am not sure if I want Miami to win this one based on their history.

2006, 2013, 2017, and 2018, they pulled off huge wins over the AFC East leader to get the playoff race, then they dropped all their remaining games.

Maybe if the lose this one, they'll win their last two.

I would suggest to just enjoying the game(s) and stop focusing on other things you have no say in or control of.

Will Minnesota make history?   Yes

Baltimore means nothing, really. Their schedule is just too easy for Miami to catch them.

Btw, Dave, this is why I did not start the thread.  Nothing that impacts Miami

Matt Ryan now owns the biggest Regular season lead and Superbowl lead blown. Genuinely feel bad for him, seems like a decent guy.

Ravens lost and suffered some defensive injuries. Hate to frame it this way, but that was best case scenario for us. If we get to 10 wins, we are very likely in. Hopefully, we get to 11 by winning our last 3 games and don't have to scoreboard watch.

We don’t have to scoreboard watch. We control our own destiny the final two weeks of the year

I don't.

Super Bowl 51:

The Falcons are up 28-9, facing second and 1 at the Patriots 32, with 1:29 left in the third quarter.

If that dumb bozo had just audibled a quarterback sneak and charged forward, he almost certainly gets the first down.  (The Patriots had spread out their defensive lineman, so it would have been just the center and the nose tackle.

This would have been a huge first down.

This is why the whining about running up the score is so pathetic.  The best way to protect a 35 point lead is a 42 point lead.

Add to that the biggest blown lead in an NFC Championship game, and biggest blown lead in an international game. Ouch.

Running up the score in an NFL game is only "wrong" if you're up by 60 with 2 minutes left. Up 35 to start the 4th? Nope, keep trying to score.

It's horrible that he is attached to those as he really has had a great career. He's kind of the Bill Buckner of football.

Not really.  Very few people are placing the blame on him.
