Title: Sunday slate
Post by: dolphins4life on December 17, 2022, 11:51:48 pm
Now at least Brady can't negatively affect us by beating Cincy.

We want

The Patriots to lose

The Jets to lose

The Chargers to lose.

If all three of these teams lose, Miami falls out of the picture

Will they get any help?

Or will they have to win their last two to get in?

I am at my healthcare job for an all day shift.  I got nothing to do but follow the games.

Why do i torture myself like this?   The Lions just drove eight minutes to the Jets one, and came away with nothing.

Now the Lions return a punt for a touchdown

Title: Re: Sunday slate

Jets punt the football.

Let's hope this continues.

Lions punt.  The first quarter ends with the Lions up 7-0

Lions get a field goal

Title: Re: Sunday slate

I doubt Miami is going to get any help whatsoever today.

The Lions defense stiffens forcing a punt with under two minutes

Title: Re: Sunday slate

Wilson continues his amazing performance, carving up the defense

Title: Re: Sunday slate
Post by: dolphins4life on December 18, 2022, 02:27:36 pm
The Jets tie it on a field goal.

10-10 going into the half.

Brady getting all the breaks as usual.

If the results hold, and Tampa Bay wins, it gives them a two game division lead with 3 games to play

Title: Re: Sunday slate
Post by: dolphins4life on December 18, 2022, 02:47:35 pm
The Jets open the second half with an interception, but the Lions can only get a field goal out of it.

Title: Re: Sunday slate

Now the Jets have a big play called back because of a penalty

Both teams exchange punts.  The Jets have it down three midway through the third

So Brady has gotten everything to go his way. Nothing has gone Miami’s way

Title: Re: Sunday slate

So the dolphins do get a small break as the jets lose.  But still Brady continues being lucky and will win the super bowl

CIN-TB is a real win/win for you.

Either Brady wins and you get to simulate being upset about it, or the Bengals win and you get to post multiple times about the Dolphins' hopeless playoff chances.

The Bengals winning or losing has almost no effect on Miami's playoff chances.  If they had won last night, it would have affected their chances.

Did you read my first post in this thread?

The Bengals winning or losing has almost no effect on Miami's playoff chances.
CIN's remaining games are TB, NE, BUF, and BAL - all games against teams in the playoff hunt.
If CIN finishes with more losses than MIA, that eliminates them as a team that can block the Dolphins from making the playoffs.
Every CIN loss is relevant to MIA until it is no longer possible for the Bengals to finish with more losses than the Dolphins.

For that happen, Miami needs to finish with a better record than CIN

This would require Miami to win two out of three games.

After the loss today, It would require Cincy to lose all three of it's remaining games.

Not likely

The Chargers are tied at the half

The Patriots get the ball to start the second half.  Let's hope the Raiders can continue playing well

Playoff seeding is a thing that exists.
It is in the Dolphins' best interest for every team in the AFC playoff hunt that can fall behind MIA in seeding to lose to every team that is NOT in the AFC playoff hunt.
It doesn't get any simpler than that.

If the Bengals win it only very slightly affects Miami's playoff chances.

I'd rather they win and prevent Brady from winning another Super Bowl.

If Miami had won last night, I'd feel differently

Patriots get right back in it with a pick six.

That's what a championship caliber defense does for your team.

Raiders have to punt near midfield.  Hope they can pin the Patriots deep.

Not quite.

I just realized Miami COULD want Cincinnati to win because they want them to win the AFC North.

I try to analyze probabilities.  Miami is likely to win just one game the rest of the year.  I am rooting for outcomes that would help Miami make the playoffs in that scenario.  It is not possible for Miami to overtake Cincinnati in that scenario.  Therefore, I am rooting for Cincinnati.

Patriots have scored ten unanswered points to pull to within four.

A Patriots win really hurts Miami's chances for the playoffs.

You have it exactly backwards: a loss by LAC today would have moved MIA into the 5 seed, which is probably the third-most desirable seed in the AFC right now.

You keep saying that about other teams, while ignoring our own schedule.

I know you seem to think the Dolphins are trash, but they'll likely be favored in their final 3 games.  Winning out is very doable and a Chargers loss today would've kept our seeding over them.  It was a big game.  ...same with the Ravens loss that you seemed to discount.

I am rooting for what gives Miami the best chance to make it at 9-8.

The Chargers don't realistically factor into that.  Even if they lost today, they'd be 7-7 with a joke schedule.  They'd have to lose 2 out of 3 for Miami to finish ahead of them

The Ravens don't realistically factor into that either.

The Bengals didn't factor into that AT ALL

The Jets and Patriots do factor into that

If LAC had lost today, they would have to lose the same number of games as the Dolphins in the next three weeks for MIA to finish ahead of them.

The fact that you consider the Dolphins underdogs to two teams with worse records that just lost to the Lions and Raiders says more about you than it does the Dolphins.

The Patriots lost to the Raiders by the skin of their teeth.  They are more talented than Miami.

Ditto the Packers.  Miami could very easily be 5-9 or 4-10

I consider them underdogs in ALL THREE GAMES.  Remember, this is a team that needed the refs help to beat the pathetic Chicago Bears.

I don't know that you can be enlightened. In all honesty ... I've defended you more than proabably anyone else but you really do not come off as a Dolphin fan much of the time. You see Brady and all you see is great stuff while you look at the Dolphins and can only point out their faults. You know what they say about if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck ...

The Patriots are now attached to two of the dumbest game winning runbacks in the history of the NFL. Gotta love that!!

I think they are favored in both their home games.  NE has a huge advantage unless the weather is unseasonably mild.  Miami isn’t a great team, but the Packers suck.  If Dolphins were playing in NJ I would favor the Jets, but in SFla  I give the edge to the fish eaters,

I don’t understand where you get these ideas.

I see Brady, and I all see is a guy who continually amazes me by how lucky he gets

I don’t see positives about Miami because they have not clinched yet, and have choked away countless playoff chances in twenty years

But anyway, after the officiating in the Patriots-Vikings game, and the officiating yesterday against the Raiders, the Patriots should be 9-5.  The Dolphins should be 7-7.  so even if Miami makes it, it will not be cause for celebration.
