Title: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: MaineDolFan on February 01, 2023, 08:38:14 am "For real this time."

I was really lucky to cover this man for as long as I did. Discuss. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2023, 08:42:26 am I think if a great opportunity presented itself, then he would play one more season. However, I don't think he has any desire to go to the Raiders for one year and go 10-7. So, might as well go home to the family.
Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: Dave Gray on February 01, 2023, 08:48:21 am As a Dolphins fan, I don't really think there is much to discuss.
Any demons I needed to exercise from him being a Patriot rival, I dealt with 1) when he left the Patriots and moved to the NFC and 2) when he retired the first time. Since then, I don't find him to be a threat in the NFL, in the traditional sense (he wasn't competing for championships) and I never took seriously for one second the prospect of him playing here. So, it's kind of a nothingburger for me personally. I hope the dude has a good life and gets his personal shit in order. I'll be glad not to have to speculate on him anymore. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: DenverFinFan on February 01, 2023, 09:00:48 am I hate Tom Brady and he ruined football is a terrible person. That said I’ll happily forget about him and hopefully he won’t do something stupid and run for Congress.
Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on February 01, 2023, 09:28:22 am I won’t truly believe he is retired until this time next year. Not going to be shocked if he is in camp somewhere or joins a QB needy team midsession.
Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: Sunstroke on February 01, 2023, 10:34:46 am If anyone lives in dolphins4life's general area, could you please check in on him from time to time? This must be a very emotional time for him... "For real this time." https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/tom-brady-announces-retirement-patriots-buccaneers-legend-walks-away-after-23-seasons-in-the-nfl/ (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/tom-brady-announces-retirement-patriots-buccaneers-legend-walks-away-after-23-seasons-in-the-nfl/) I hate the Pats but NFL fans were awfully lucky to watch this man plan. I was really lucky to cover this man for as long as I did. Discuss. Holy guacamole...there has been a Maine sighting!! Missed ya around here, buddy! Title: Re: The LOAT retires again Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on February 01, 2023, 12:27:21 pm Glad to see his career end like it did. I have never seen a player so lucky as he was Merged. Please look to see if there is already a thread before creating a new one. This one was literally only two down! Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: dolphins4life on February 01, 2023, 12:39:40 pm I still can't believe how lucky he was during his career. Even in his last season.
Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2023, 12:48:36 pm I still can't believe how lucky he was during his career. Even in his last season. He was very fortunate but the guy was also a legend too. Both statements can be true at once. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on February 01, 2023, 01:31:45 pm You can get lucky on a single play, such as reaching up and catching a football with your helmet. But luck tends to even itself out over a 22 year career.
Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 01, 2023, 01:37:16 pm Yes and you always remember luck going against you more than luck going towards you. I always remember the Panthers kicker pushing the ball out of bounds in the Superbowl that led to a GW FG, it was shocking one of the best kickers in the league did that. That was obviously great luck for Brady that had nothing to do with his skill.
However, of the 3 Patriots Superbowl losses, I'm sure he has had some dropped passes and bad luck as well. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: dolphins4life on February 01, 2023, 01:40:03 pm You can get lucky on a single play, such as reaching up and catching a football with your helmet. But luck tends to even itself out over a 22 year career. Not for Brady. How many quarterbacks have won THREE conference championships in which they threw three interceptions? Tom Brady is 3-0 in overtime coin flips in the playoffs. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: Dave Gray on February 01, 2023, 02:39:27 pm Brady was a decent player in all aspects of the game: running around, arm strength, accuracy, etc. He had no crazy hole that you could exploit.
But he's the best ever at coordinating and understanding pre-snap and where to go with the ball. To me, that's his legacy. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on February 01, 2023, 05:45:47 pm How many quarterbacks have won THREE conference championships in which they threw three interceptions? The exact same number as has appeared in more than 7 championships. Play in enough games and things average out. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: DenverFinFan on February 01, 2023, 08:04:34 pm Brady’s legacy is one of cheating, fraud, ridiculous rules, bad calls and inexplicable calls from opposing teams. Nothing will convince me otherwise and the sooner this guy is fading into memory the better.
I’m sure he’ll be the highest paid analyst somewhere but that’s why the devil invented the mute button. Title: Re: Tom Brady calls it a day Post by: DenverFinFan on February 01, 2023, 08:48:25 pm Last thing..I just saw his record against every team. 24-12 against Miami. Considering how much we sucked I’m glad we were somewhat of a spear in his holy side. Denver also has a winning record against him in Playoffs which is kinda nice.
Goodbye Tom, I will not miss you. Title: Tom Brady - Ring of Dishonor Post by: dolphins4life on February 01, 2023, 09:07:03 pm Jon Gruden for being a pansy in 2001 and not going for it on fourth and inches, which could have ended this whole thing before it started
Olindo Mare in 2003 for the two missed field goals, which changed the course of that season Pete Carroll for Super Bowl 49. Ruined a wonderful snowy Groundhog Day for me. Matt Ryan. Hey doofus, when it's second and one, and you can get the first down, AUDIBLE A QUARTERBACK SNEAK!! Dee Ford. Stupid idiot who doesn't know how to line-up onsides. I'm sure there are countless others. Title: Re: Tom Brady - Ring of Dishonor Post by: DenverFinFan on February 01, 2023, 09:28:01 pm Yes to all of this and more.
