Title: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: Dave Gray on February 10, 2023, 02:10:13 pm Pick 4 QBs to put on your Mt. Rushmore.
You can choose between 4 different eras, you can pick 4 styles of play, you can pick the 4 best, you can pick franchise impact....whatever. Please explain your choices. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: DenverFinFan on February 10, 2023, 02:36:29 pm Griese - two superbowls played with goggles goes without saying
Woodley - someone else can explain why he belongs there Marino - The greatest QB of all time. Superbowls be dammed Dan was the greatest QB to ever throw a pass. Fiedler - the weird goofy SOB had balls and heart and can’t say that about anyone else but Tanny since Danny retired. Honestly we only have two that should be here, Marino and Griese. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: Dave Gray on February 10, 2023, 02:46:49 pm Griese
Marino - These two are the obvious ones. Griese won the SBs and Marino is among the best to ever play the game. Tannehill - He was here 6 years, he's got pretty good numbers. Tua - It's early, but he's outpacing everyone and his QBR is higher than anyone else. Then, I think the next names are Strock for longevity, Earl Morrall maybe just for his place in history. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: CF DolFan on February 10, 2023, 03:00:41 pm Off the top of my head I'd say
Dan Marino Bob Griese Ryan Tannehill Earl Morral Tua doesn't have enough time as our QB or else he'd be a given. Earl Morral was at least instrumental to our biggest year to date. Sadly we really haven't had many good/great QBs. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: Spider-Dan on February 10, 2023, 03:32:18 pm Griese
Marino Fiedler Tannehill I tried to put Morrall, Strock, or Woodley in one of those slots, but Woodley wasn't in MIA for long enough, Strock barely played, and Morrall should probably be on the Colts' Mt. Rushmore. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: Pappy13 on February 13, 2023, 11:07:32 am In order of level of talent in my opinion.
Marino Griese Pennington Tannehill Marino was just in another class. Griese was a very intelligent QB. Pennington would have been a pretty good QB if he was more physically gifted. He was limited by what he could do physically. Smart like Griese but not as good of QB as Griese. Tannehill was a pretty good athlete. Not terrifically gifted passing the ball but was a better runner than many gave him credit and I always thought he should have scrambled a lot more than he did. Fiedler probably took better advantage of his running ability than Tannehill did, but I think Tannehill was a better passer than Fiedler. Note that this is just the top 4 QB's on Miami in my opinion. Honestly only the top 2 really belong on the Mount Rushmore. I will give honorable mention to Don Strock who I always liked, but you just never saw him enough to really get a feeling for where he was. I would have put him on the list ahead of Woodley as I thought Strock should have started in place of Woodley, but it's hard to argue with Shula thinking that Woodley should be the starter so there must have been things about Woodley that Shula liked. Yet everytime that Woodley was replaced by Strock, I thought Stock was the better QB, so who knows. Maybe Strock was just the perfect backup QB and would have been exposed as the starter. Also honorable mention goes to Scott Mitchell who I thought could have been a really good QB for Miami if they didn't have Marino. He might have been 3rd on this list if he actually had a chance to play for Miami. I didn't even consider Tua as his career with Miami is hopefully just beginning. I'd hate to try to rank him right now as he's so young and inexperienced yet. He could mature and legitimately be on the Mount Rushmore, but he's not there yet and I don't want to project too much. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: masterfins on February 13, 2023, 01:13:56 pm Dan Marino
Bob Griese Earl Morrall Don Strock Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Rushmore - Quarterbacks Post by: dolphins4life on February 13, 2023, 02:01:14 pm Surprised nobody mentioned Damon Huard
He was 6-1 as a starter for two years and contributed to Miami's playoff runs in 1999 and 2000 Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. That year was interesting though. I think Miami was 7-2 before Marino came back from injury and threw five picks on Thanksgiving against Dallas? Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt. Yeah I remember that game. Miami was down pretty significantly, I think Marino got hurt and threw a pick six, then Huard did as well, then after grant he engineered the coke back and had a string of wins to where Miami was the top spot in the AFC before just collapsing. Realistically there are only two, Bob Griese and Dan Marino, maybe Earl Morrall for his contributions to the perfect season. Title: Re: Miami Dolphins Mt.
