Title: Miami Early Superbowl Odds
Post by: EDGECRUSHER on February 14, 2023, 09:35:01 am
Tied for 11th with the Lions, Broncos and Packers at +3000. So, bet $100 and win $3,000.

Broncos? Packers likely without Rodgers? I don't know who set these odds, but for us it really is worth it to put down at least $50 right now on Miami winning it all. This was a Superbowl claiber team when Tua was healthy, let's not forget this. I certainly wouldn't put us up there with Kansas City and Philly in terms of odds, but tied with teams who didn't make the playoffs or had a terrible record? Plop that money down and think positive thoughts.

Pretty generous.  Miami plays both Super Bowl teams next year, as well as the Bills twice.

The Broncos just won 5 games and have the same odds as us. So, not very generous at all.

How exactly is Mia suppose to improve from 2022 to 2023?  No first round draft pick and negative cap space.

Better coaching and health. McDaniel was good but he had some rookie mistakes he will hopefully learn from. Fangio is miles ahead of Boyer as DC and while not impossible *knock on wood*, it is ALMOST impossible to have worse health this season than last. Getting back a ton of talent on defense alone will make us a better team.

He won't have to if he is healthy. Basically played on a busted hamstring the entire season.

He won't have to because he won't be playing much man either. He's getting ready to play a lot of zone under his new daddy.

Addition by subtraction.

And you can always change your coaching staff. This has already started.

High picks don't necessarily contribute much in their first year. That missing first rounder is going to be felt more in future seasons. The cap space can be worked around, pushing those problems into the future.

The question is if the team can solidify the offensive line and get the defense to improve. I think the latter is likely to happen, but I'm fairly skeptical of the first. Ultimately, I expect a small improvement combined on that front. McDaniel should improve as well now that he has a year under his belt. He has a chance to adjust the things in terms of players, coaches, planning, etc., to better work the way he wants it to. And he seems like he is sufficiently self-critical to work on his own weaknesses. That should provide a bit of a bump as well. The big question is Tua. If he can avoid cracking his head and show that the great play he did show (when not concussed) wasn't a one-off, then I think the team will be significantly (but not massively) improved. If he turns into a pumpkin, well, so does the team.
