I guess he did two seasons with the Chargers, but hasn't played since 2020. So why this retirement announcement now????

As far as retiring he has to file paperwork with the NFL and it appears he hadn't done that. I like Mike and welcome him back with open arms! Hope to see him at a game.

I don't understand why a player can't just designate any former team as the team he wants to retire as. Is it really necessary to sign a completely bogus contract for this?
