Title: Alternate Mount Rushmore - Tight Ends
Post by: Downunder Dolphan on April 06, 2023, 10:05:42 pm
Eric Green.

That's it for me. Four different angles of his face for every spot on the mountain.

The guy was great at Pittsburgh... and an expensive dud (at the time the highest paid TE in NFL history) for us. Worse still, we fit him in by cutting Keith Jackson (who immediately proved his worth to Green Bay on a Championship team).

Four months on and no replies... so did I ace this one?

This is so hard because I don't really know bum TEs.  If they aren't good, they don't get playing time or they get moved on.  It's not a position where you invest a lot and have a guy be a bum for a long time.

So, Eric Green was a bust, sure.  But I don't even know the names of the people who should be on there because that's how bad they were.

Troy Drayton can go on this list.  He was acquired by JJ in 1996 and was supposed to be the guy who could ball out at TE.   He ended up with mediocre receiving stats and his blocking was well below par.
