Title: Was he short? Post by: dolphins4life on September 18, 2023, 12:45:24 am I thought he was.
I'm still in shock. That reminded me of the Rams-Bucs game a couple years ago. Two HUGE victories in two weeks. These could be valuable tiebreakers for later in the season Title: Re: Was he short? Post by: fyo on September 18, 2023, 07:39:49 am The network rules analyst had it short and called it "clear and obvious". I'll admit I didn't feel 100% confident during the broadcast, but I did see a freeze-frame after the game right down the line where the ball is clearly seen (quite a bit short) and the knee clearly down:

Props to Gesicki for the heads-up lateral that even gave the Patriots a chance to make the first down, though. Title: Re: Was he short? It was short. Great play by Gisecki who was clearly motivated to beat his former team.https://opoyi.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/F6RwXenXYAA3MQC.jpeg So, yeah, he was short, no question about it. Post by: Dave Gray on September 18, 2023, 08:47:11 am In real-time, I thought the spot was bad (it was definitely spotted too far ahead. I could see that in the moment). However, I didn't think they'd bring it back as far as they did. I didn't think they'd overturn.
However, when they slowed it down and showed the one angle that you did, he's clearly short. He extended his body with his knee on the ground. It was the right call. Title: Re: Was he short? Post by: Brian Fein on September 18, 2023, 11:55:53 am IMO they should have blew the whistle when Gesicki forward progress was stopped, but on 4th and 4 with the game running out, they were right to not blow it dead. The place would have rioted. If it were 3rd and 4 in the 2nd quarter, they would have blown the whistle.

I pretty much agree. If that same exact play happened in on 2nd down, it would've been stopped. Title: Re: Was he short? Post by: Pappy13 on September 18, 2023, 03:58:33 pm Here's a good shot of it. Pretty conclusive I would say. Obviously Pats fans don't agree.

Post by: Dave Gray on September 18, 2023, 07:52:15 pm Yeah, it was short, but also, who cares? They were down two scores all game and were banking on intentional fumbles to even keep a 4th down alive. They just got beat all night, got a bunch of breaks, and still couldn't make anything out of it.

I don't think any of them like Belichick. |
