Title: Do you own any digital currency?
Post by: Dave Gray on May 29, 2024, 12:48:48 pm
I do not.

However, I have funds in a gambling account that I've had for decades at this point.  I have received a check from them before, but they've moved over to all transaction being in bitcoin.  I don't have a wallet, so I guess I have to figure that out.  Since the gambling laws have loosened where I live, I will probably let my last bet finish and then just make a clean break.

Do any of you have a digital wallet?  Do you hold any digital currency?

I didn’t.  Seems like a Ponzi scheme.

Nope, it's all a scam.

To me it seems like voodoo money. It just doesn't seem tangible to me enough to trust it.

Update to a gravedig -- I pulled the money from the sportsbook, which I received in bitcoin.  After paying out the other people in my pool, I paid myself and I actually made some profit on the rise in bitcoin while I was distributing the money.

I ended up keeping $200 in there, as of 2/1.  It lost about 20% of its value in the 1 month since.  But I'm going to keep it there and see how it goes.

I have some BTC and Ethereum. Is it nonsense? Not to me. Just needs more regs, though once it is regulated heavily, I believe it'll lose most of it's value, as it's value is partially (as I see it) in the fact that it's unregulated in a way that allows you to send and receive it without the usage of banks.

I have never sent nor received bitcoin myself, I just buy it thru my investment app. If something were to happen to the american dollar that was catastrophic, I would want a backup that is not physical gold or another country's currency...

I don't.   If something happens and either electricity or the internet goes down, your money is wiped out.   I've invested in gold and silver in case of a disaster or in case something happens to the American dollar.
