Title: I went on a spiritual quest the last few months
Post by: dolphins4life on May 30, 2024, 07:59:35 pm
This story was really convincing to me

https://www.syracuse.com/life-and-culture/g66l-2019/04/f4df44853b7048/1949-when-a-little-girls-miracle-became-a-holy-week-sensation-worldwide.html

This happened in 1949.  Unlike other examples of weeping statues, this looks clearly divine to me.  The statue head literally weeps when the girl kisses it.

If you read the article and watch the video, would you be convinced of divine intervention?

What other explanation could you give?

Another article

https://time.com/archive/6793686/manners-morals-st-annes-tears/

Here's the timeline of events

April 3: The statue is knocked over.  The head breaks off.  The little girl kisses it.  Tears form

April 12: They bring it to the church.  She kisses it there, and the statue weeps.

Edit:  That story is called the Miracle of Syracuse

The Miracles of Seton are more convincing.

Read this article, and you will find it quite convincing.

There is a physical explanation for these sometimes.  Condensation can form in the less dense parts of statue, the eyes, and drip out., but this doesn't explain the extent to which it was happening in this case, or why it suddenly stopped.

Is there anything that COULD convince you to become religious?

That's irrelevant, your lack of imagination isn't proof of anything.

Possible examples:

Fraud/Grift.
Misreporting of an event that happened over 70 years ago by someone with an agenda.
Natural phenomenon, like there's moisture in the statue and it seeps out of a crack in the statue when she tilts it to kiss it.

This shows how one statue could not have been tampered with, as it was in the woman’s purse

You're right, that's pretty air-tight.  I'm religious now.

The girl had water in her mouth and blew the water into the face of the statue when she kissed it forming tears. Not even a good magician's trick really.

I don't know for sure he can recognize sarcasm. He may take this at face value.
