Title: What's left of the chances
Post by: dolphins4life on December 15, 2024, 04:53:16 pm
Obviously, Miami needs to win out.

We need one more loss by the Colts

We need to overtake the loser of the Chargers/Broncos game.

Best hope:

1) Win out

2) Colts lose one of their remaining three game

3) Chargers lose to the Broncos and to either NE or the Raiders

Miami CAN be eliminated next week

If they are, I'd say give Tua the rest of the year off.

Although technically not eliminated, Miami has no playoff hopes.  It's really just about not giving up and still playing hard to win; if guys do give up then they should be shipped out in the off season.

Obviously, Miami must win out.
That alone will probably be too much. Having to win in overtime to beat the Jets and then this stunningly bad performance by the offense just reinforces the notion that the Dolphins historically are not a good team down the stretch. Has nothing to do with the weather. Can't say I really know what it is, but it's not the weather.

IMO it's leadership and mental toughness that the Dolphins offense tends to lack, and I believe that's on Tua and McDaniel.  The defense usually does enough to get the win and/or keep Miami in the games.

I hate to be a turd in the punch bowl, but there wasn't a realistic chance before.  There is less than that now.

I figured it would be a tough year without Chubb and Ramsey coming back from an injury.  Then when Tua missed games and Miami had no answer at QB it was pretty much over, unless other teams also faltered, which didn't happen.

The AFC is tougher to get in than the NFC.  I mean the Bucs division you can almost have a losing record and win that division.

^^^ Jalen Phillips situation is understandable but it's ridiculous they knew Chubb's injury would keep him out all year and they did absolutely nothing to help us in his absence.

They... drafted Chop Robinson, who has been really good?
On paper, the stretch run should have been Phillips back at full speed paired up with Chop getting his sea legs.

Chop was always a project player. This means they weren't counting on him to be an every down player. Chop plays 50% of the snaps and sometimes less. If that was the answer then obviously Chris didn't understand the question. He dang sure didn't understand the importance of the back-up QB so most likely the issue is his lack of comprehension of the situations.

The stinky residue of this season has been clinging to the toilet bowl since the Packers game, waiting to be flushed away. It's almost all gone now.

Open question: would Grier have drafted Chop Robinson (and Kamara) if either/both of Chubb & Phillips were healthy?

It seemed like a reactive move to me.
