Title: Jason Sanders Post by: dolphins4life on December 23, 2024, 01:39:57 am He is having one of the finest seasons ever by a Miami kicker.
This is bad because 1) We're wasting it. 2) It proves my point that it's about WHEN you miss. This was the problem with Mare. If we could trade one of his misses for making the missed field goal against the Colts, Miami would have the inside track to the playoffs now. Allow me to give a couple of examples of how you people don't seem to understand the effect of kicking. 1) Dolphins vs Seahawks 2004. Miami lost this game on an interception 24-17. Mare missed a field goal in this game. If Mare makes that field goal, they aren't driving in the last minute. They kneel and run out the clock and win 20-17 2) Dolphins Patriots 2005. Miami lost this game 23-16. Mare missed a field goal in this game. The Patriots were up 15-10, when Miami scored and missed the two point conversion. If the score was 15-13, Miami can kick the extra point and make it 20-15. The Patriots scored a TD and two point conversion to make it 23-16. Miami drove inside Patriots territory and turned the ball over on downs. If it's 23-20, they can kick the field goal and have a chance to win in overtime. I know, you can't expect kickers to be perfect. The key is WHEN you miss. Miss kicks in blowout losses or wins. Make the important ones. That's what can boost a team into the playoffs versus watching from home. Title: Re: Jason Sanders Post by: Phishfan on December 23, 2024, 01:21:00 pm Miami lost that game by 6. One field goal doesn't get it done.
Title: Re: Jason Sanders Post by: Denver2 on December 23, 2024, 04:33:19 pm Sanders is hard to figure out. Sometimes he looks like he isn’t near the caliber of elite kickers and then he has times where he will nail a 57 yarder or basically win the game for us
Title: Re: Jason Sanders Post by: CF DolFan on December 24, 2024, 11:28:43 am I think Dolphin fans have short memory or only remember the bad times. Sanders is getting paid good money because he has been solid for the most part. Otherwise they would have dumped him for a cheaper option as they have in the past.
