Hello, everyone.  This is my yearly dump of every "new to me" movie I saw in 2024.  There are far too many to review but I'm happy to discuss anything or answer questions if you have any.  I got to 242 this year, which is quite a bit down from last year.  I have added in some more TV this year, whereas last year, I actively avoided it.

Percentage wise, I saw less movies than the list last year. I am watching one right now that I have been watching 8n pieces because I find it one that requires attention. I'd be curious for you to watch and review Here

I think it's unlikely that I will watch Here.

I know all about it and I know the gimmick.  That just doesn't seem like it would do anything but annoy me.  I'm kind of over Zemeckis, in that way.  I feel like he makes tech demos over movies with interesting stories.

Maybe that's wrong in this case, but I really have very little interest.  Even the people that are recommending it to me (you aren't the first) aren't doing it because it's great; it's like this begrudging recommendation because it's interesting.

Quite the list, includes a few that bring back memories for me of going to the theater to see them back around 1983.  Looks like you have a number of foreign language films, do you find it tough to follow them while reading the translation?  I'll watch one once in a while, but I have to pick a time when I won't be distracted, or I lose interest and just turn it off.

Yes, often.  It's especially true when they are also old or they are rooted in a culture, tradition, meta understanding, or political climate with which I'm not familiar.

I unapologetically will read a Wiki page on an old foreign movie as I watch it, just so I can make sure I know what's going on.  Sometimes, even with that, it's referencing some political conflict, through the lens of a country's specific cultural myths.  That's tough, but a lot of these I treat more as homework, rather than something to enjoy.

Like, imagine you have no concept WW2 and then you tried to watch Inglorious Basterds.  It wouldn't make any sense.  Sometimes I deal with that.
