Tyreek Hill was a major disappointment for the Dolphins this season.

Chris Grier, who once again showed that he is totally incapable of building a roster that could win the AFC East.

Honestly Reek can get it to.

I defended him because he was still our top receiver and he was dealing with Tua a lot and defenses had adjusted to him but he set a bad tone with his detainment prior to week and we never recovered. I don’t believe he’s at fault there really but he should she’s been cool and drove better.

But he quit on us today and there were times he just looked disinterested. Time to see what we can get for him we still have Waddle and Washington is an up and comer we can replace him.

Not the first time a star player has quit on this team.  If you're Hill, and you've come from a Super Bowl winning team, and look around and see the same stuff has happened over and over again for three years and this year, you're team actually took a step backward and missed the playoffs entirely, would you want to be here?  I doubt it.

I mean I understand his pov, I would not want to play for a dysfunctional and cursed franchise.

I think it's a close call between Grier and McDaniel.

No matter who you pick it all goes backs to Ross. He is the one who continues to accept not being very good. The other guys are doing their best ... whatever that is.

I wouldn't have said it until now, but I gotta say Tyreek, right?

He underperformed, which may or may not be his fault, but when you look at all the off-the-field stuff and the trolling and then not playing in the 2nd half of the last game.  That's pretty bad.

I also think that Skylar Thompson might be one.  It's a low bar to be a backup QB, but he didn't clear it, to the point that he got cut.

And I guess you can argue Tua, if just for health reasons.  You can't miss 7 games with multiple injuries.  He's just too important a player.

There were a few prime candidates to choose from this year.

Jordan Poyer was a regular Shame of the Game (or nominee) and in quite a few other seasons would have easily taken the crown.

Grier has royally screwed us with his salary cap management, leading to a few select players being grossly overpaid and a huge chunk of our draft rebuild talent being let go before the season even started (and more to come this offseason).

Jalen Ramsey has not been worth anything like what we're paying him - an occasional lock down corner, who too often hands off his opponent in zone coverage to a safety (usually Poyer, which is effectively like leaving him to no defender) in order to defend vacant space. Last year there were the excuses of injury and the system under Fangio, yet we've just seen more of the same. He doesn't seem to be getting that much more in the way of lock-down work under Weaver, and is getting burned half the time by younger, faster receivers. Is it the way we use him, or is it him?  

But hands down, the Shame of the Year has to be Tyreek Hill.

Before the season even started he was off the rails, an alleged assault, then holding out for more guaranteed money after JJ got a huge guaranteed pay-rise - that after campaigning for Tua to get a fat long term contract (I guess in relation to Tua's fattened off-season physique?). Right or not, I'm convinced these distractions were a major factor, as he was clearly not ready for the NFL's harder interpretation of the illegal procedure/false start rules with which they started nailing him.

He's rewarded us paying him with the worst season of his career after his rookie season of 2016. His conduct leading up to his arrest before the first game was ridiculous, and while he had his best moment of this season during that game with that long TD reception (there were too few of those great moments) it was another distraction he just never seemed to get over. For those who say he checked out before the last game when we weren't going to make the playoffs (and he wasn't going to make 1000 yards), he checked out long before that. Go back to when Tua was concussed at Buffalo, and that's the moment he switched off - the effort just wasn't there after that, he wasn't getting open, he was dropping passes - that dropped pass behind the line of scrimmage and the complete lack of effort to recover it against Tennessee was the most damning, cringe-worthy example. When QB1 went down, that's when he felt the season was done. The online trolling is the cherry on top of everything else - people take that as humorous when you're performing, but it's rubbing salt in an open wound when you're not.  

Tyreek gamed us and got paid, and now wants to be someone else's problem. Great, but it's going to still be a massive cap issue at least going into 2025 because of that restructure (thanks Grier). Bye Tyreek. Up until this season it's been fun and an amazing ride, but your greed and vanity has now well and truly screwed us over.

I think Tyreek basically nominated himself being the distraction he chooses to be. It's one thing when you are productive but gets old pretty quickly when you don't.

I fully agree.  I wouldn't have said Tyreek if you'd have asked me last week, despite the drop in numbers, because I would say that defenses specifically took him away and allowed for other players to do well, like Jonnu.

But to then turn it all around and make the bad numbers all about your own displeasure.  ...that's some bullshit.
