R.I.P. Patriots Dynasty And finally, it wouldn't be right to finish this column without congratulating the Patriots for their remarkable run, while at the same time bidding adieu to their dynasty. Patriots Dynasty, 4, of New England, died January 14, 2006 at Invesco Field in Denver. Dynasty was born on January 19, 2002 to the Tuck Rule in Foxborough, Mass., and was confirmed weeks later at Super Bowl XXXVI. Surviving are a loving media and a large, but rapidly emptying, bandwagon. Services will be held in the form of commemorative books and DVDs. In lieu of flowers, please stop disrespecting them. I wish people would stop sniffing the Patriots' collective jocks. They were average, at best, in a crappy division this season. Â They're not world beaters. Â So they won last year - So what? Â Alot of teams won in the past (even the Dolphins). Â Winning last year is no more remarkable than winning 20 years ago. So, please in lieu of flowers, please stop OVER-RESPECTING them. Â The Patriots have shown that they're not all that. This is the exact mentality that makes people like me hope the Patriots go 0-16 next season and every season thereafter. I still think the Pats would be better at representing the AFC on a neutral field. And they are in our division, so don't be writing them off in advance. With only 3 other teams per division, the more we say that is good about them just makes us look even better when we beat them next season.
Like the Dolphins after the bye, they had sort of a mid-late season slump due to injuries and inconsistency from Brady. But once their best players came back, they were probably about #4 on total defense by the end of the season. |
